Duke Raleigh Hospital Duke Raleigh Hospital offers the latest in

hospital provides 186 inpatient beds and a comprehensive array of

advanced digestive care, disease management, and prevention, wound
healing, outpatient imaging, intensive and progressive care, pain

Duke Raleigh Hospital as high performing in orthopedics and five

General Description of the Job Class
This key role will manage and coordinate strategic activities of
the hospital Supply Chain Management functions in a proactive
manner. The Manager will facilitate the supply chain vision and
strategy established by the Supply Chain Leadership team, ensure
supply chain practices adhere to industry standards and best
practices, regulatory compliance, minimize risk and align with and
support the Health System's strategic initiatives. Work directly
with OR department & staff to ensure requisite supplies on hand
24/7 for surgical needs. Participates as a member of the Supply
Chain leadership team and represents the department in management
and associate forums. Manage the overall day-to-day operations of
Supply Chain Management to promote safe, efficiency and effective
patient care. Manage customer communication and supply chain
processes to ensure optimal customer service standards are met.
Excellent close loop communication skills are essential, as well as
customer service follow through in a supportive team environment.
Excellent knowledge of supply chain information systems and Excel
skills of supply chain data a must. This position requires
excellent customer service & communication skills.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Being able to be a mentor/precept to the staff. Manage the
day-to-day operations of Supply Chain in designated areas. Work
collaboratively with medical staff and supply chain leadership to
develop and maintain programs and process designed to ensure
compliance of service delivery standards. Review and improve
standards on an on- going basis, continuous improvement mindset.
Serve on intra and interdepartmental committees related to
organizational objectives. Seek opportunities to promote the
vision, mission and value of the organization by serving in
leadership positions on relations committees. Maintains a working
knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and
regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures to ensure
adherence in a manner that reflects safe, honest, ethical, and
professional behavior. Conduct inspections of the hospital
facilities to assure uninterrupted flow of supplies and other
responsible items (e.g. linen) to departments and to ensure
compliance with established policies, procedures, rules, and
regulations. Produces high levels of employee satisfaction through
cross-training, inter-departmental promotions, ongoing career
planning, motivation and communication to staff thereby increasing
productivity and reducing departmental turn over. Provide
professional support to supply chain leadership; serve as a
resource to enhance revenue, achieve optimal utilization and reduce
costs. Trains the associates to be knowledgeable in all supply
chain related functions including customer service and efficient,
productive methods of completing their tasks. Ensure appropriate
inventory levels are maintained and communicate with customers
regarding stocking, ordering and deliveries. Direct assigned staff
in the attainment of performance standards and evaluate
performance; responsible for hiring, training, coaching, provide
corrective actions when necessary and other related personnel
actions. Matches associate schedules to customer needs, utilizing
metrics to support decisions. Benchmark performance measure to
track trends and needs for improvement.
As the Operating Room Supply Chain Manager, you will oversee all
supply chain activities within the operating room/surgical services
including but not limited to the following:
Point of contact for clinical nursing and clinical nursing
management for supply needs.
Accountable for budget as it relates to inventory management and
labor.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance,
Healthcare, and/or another related field required.
Master's degree preferred, but not required.
Experience: 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or
health care leadership/management. 2 of the 5 years must be in
supply chain/logistics
Experience with supply chain technology solutions. Unique
Identifier Information capture type
Previous experience in Logical Unit of Measure distribution
processes required.
Previous experience in LEAN Six Sigma methodologies preferred, but
not required.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: Valid State Driver's
license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated abilities in staff
management and leadership experience, ability to drive positive
culture change in department. Able to articulate and drive Duke
University Health System global strategies and vision for Supply
Chain in all activities. Exceptional negotiation, analytical,
verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional motivational,
prioritization, and organizational skills with the ability to
multi-task and meet strict deadlines. Goal-oriented with an
emphasis on creating efficiencies, reducing waste, and improving
the quality of patient care delivery. Ability to successfully work
independently but also working in a team management environment.
Manages employee job functions and schedule times to meet daily
departmental demands. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams,
build consensus and influence key stakeholders. Establish, develop
and grow supplier relationships. Ability to think strategically,
present and articulate direction and strategies, and act as a
change agent by solving operational gaps needed to achieve
departmental and organizational strategic plans. Understanding of
departmental budgets, and key financial and statistical activity
reports. Ability to manipulate and organize large data sets and
interpret implications for the medical center. Experience with ERP
(preferably SAP) or other supply chain information systems software
with intermediate to advanced skills with MS Excel, Word, and
PowerPoint. Read and interpret complex business and/or technical
documents. Knowledge of progressive supply chain strategies, and
certification in AHRMM or APICs is preferred but not required. Must
have the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or
10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force
constantly to move objects. In this particular job, the exertional
requirements are to push/pull the unloaded and loaded supply carts
with the duty requiring up to 100 pounds of exertional force daily.
Reaching, lifting, stooping, and bending are frequent in daily
duties. Possess a sense of urgency and a proactive, customer
service philosophy. Ability to be sensitive to the needs of
customers through the practice of quality service principles.
