Job Description:

- - -We are hiring a key team player to build food system
connections from Farm to Institution, including farms, processors,
distributors and institutions like schools, childcare centers,
hospitals and more.. - You will help to imagine, research and build
connections that increase access to fresh, healthy food across our
region. -You will be working as part of a small team to figure out
complex things, so great communication, team work and ability to
think on your feet is required. - You will deepen existing
relationships and establish new connections-built on trust,
reliability, integrity and transparency-across the regional food
system.. You will work with partners, especially school districts
and other institutional buyers, to understand what they need and
how to create a food system that supports their procurement of
regionally grown food. You will interface with our socially
responsible food hub, ByWay Foods (where we produce fresh-cut
vegetables, healthy meals, produce boxes, and compost), as well as
other processing partners. -Responsibilities: - - - - - - - - - - -

Create opportunities to link small
farmers to new markets through ethical, traceable, food supply
chain connections involving our hub. - -Provide one-on-one support
to farmers in achieving farm safety or other certifications (e.g.,
GAP, organic); - in accessing technical or financial support (for
example, grant writing), and in adopting and monitoring
regenerative agricultural practicesOffer legible, relevant programs
and services for target farmer populations, in accordance with our
commitment to work with small and minority operations.
-Institutional services
Develop and deepen relationships with
institutional buyers -In collaboration with other staff, support
marketing campaigns to promote locally/regionally sourced foods to
institutional marketsDocument and understand the needs and
practices of institutional buyers (through conversations, surveys,
data analysis) and develop strategies for meeting those needs
-Value chain development services
Serve as the project manager for
collaborating food processors on a major farm to institution effort
involving four other processors in NCSupport product development,
logistics, and capacity building as neededTrack value chain
development activities, and demonstrate leadership in developing
creative ways to document, illustrate and share value chain
linkages and product flowsCreate opportunities to build trust,
collaboration and transparency among partnersDevelop strategies for
addressing food waste, promoting circular economies, and promoting
climate mobilization as an integral part of this body of work -
-Administrative and organizational
-Contribute to grant proposals,
fundraising initiatives and story-telling on behalf of the
organization. -Stay abreast of relevant news and developments in
the sector; engage in professional development. -Contribute content
(short writing, images, statistics on programs) to organizational
promotional materials on a regular basis. - -Represent the
organization through networking events, conferences, media events,
collaborative projects, open houses, etc. as requested; help to
organize events as appropriate. - -Promote a healthy, respectful,
adaptive and productive workplace culture. -Qualifications
Stellar interpersonal communication
skillsThree years of project management experience in food systems,
agriculture, or related field -Strong computer skills, with ability
to quickly learn and use new programs.Ability to think
analytically, listen carefully and communicate clearly in writing
and verballyCommitment to building relationships, networks, skills
and understanding that prepare our communities for the great
unravelingAbility to plan and complete complex tasks with little
direct supervisionAbility to travel alone to meet with project
partners (sometimes overnight)Willingness to take ownership of and
solve problems that are within the scope of this position;
willingness to admit errors, discuss challenges and learn as part
of a team.Ability to work and make decisions under pressure;
ability to manage competing priorities in evolving
settings.Excellent record keeping and data management skills;
attention to detailPhysically fit; able to drive, bend, stand, walk
and pull/push for long periods of time and lift up to 25 pounds
repeatedly. - Able to work outdoors in heat and cold, and indoors

purchasing (e.g., schools, hospitals, child care centers)Experience
managing logisticsExperience with data analysis, mapping programs,
infographic developmentExperience working with small farmers,
especially on GAP certificationExcellent writing skills.
-Experience living and working in a rural environment, and/or
working with small farmers.Experience working in a
socioeconomically diverse environment and interacting successfully
with individuals from different backgrounds.Ability and willingness
to participate in all aspects of Working Landscapes' programs,
including vegetable processing, distribution, meal preparation, and
office administration, as needed -Compensation: Salary range from
$45,000 to $55,000 per year (exempt), depending on experience. -
This full-time position includes paid health insurance for the
employee and family and paid time off. - Hours will vary throughout
the year/season, and may require some early morning, evening, and
