This person will work closely with other DHTS technical team members as well as consumers of data protection services. The incumbent will ensure availability and service delivery for all Duke Health facilities, to include proactive planning and management of all data protection environments, capacity planning, service improvement and mentoring the incident--resolution. The ideal candidate is experienced in implementing and administering enterprise-grade data protection solutions. This candidate is able to work with customers and other DHTS team members to design, create and implement scalable and cost-effective solutions using modern data protection systems, including public-cloud enabled services. Candidates should demonstrate experience working with various data protection capabilities, for example, Networker, and Data Domain. Experience with public cloud providers and experience with Linux, Windows OS systems and basic networking is desired.--Essential Functions:Seek out expertise, knowledge, and resources, to gather, analyze, and implement requirements for data protection service solutionsDesign, build and test new data protection solutions, ensuring performance, security, and availability of data within the specified time ranges of the projectsProvide skilled guidance, using virtualization, cloud and network solutions for customers of the data protection servicesProvide training/mentoring to other DHTS teams on data protection technologies to enhance DHTS' capability to support its services.Participate in technical discussions within a team as well as with other groups associated with assigned projects, demonstrating subject matter expertise.Provide technical support to customers and other technical SMEs utilizing knowledge of data protection systems to quickly solve issues and build DHTS skill sets.Seek out opportunities to automate repetitive functions for consistency and repeatabilityCreate and maintain documentation and procedures to ensure adherence to institutional, state and federal policies and regulations.--Implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with Duke Health security policies and Audit standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein--Preferred Qualifications:Education/Experience:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience5+ years of experience in data protection must have implemented and/or managed a data protection program; Must possess strong technical knowledge in data protection architecture, system policies, and processes3+ years of experience managing data protection product solutions, for example, Networker and Data DomainAbility to work with a variety of vendors on new data protection products and technologies and identify any technologies that would improve the organization's data protection suite.Strong verbal and written communications skills; must be able to effectively communicate technical details and thoughts in non-technical/general terminology to various levels of the organizationDemonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks independently Excellent analytical abilities and innovative problem-solving skillsExperience in supporting enterprise storage environmentsExperience with S3 storage protocols preferredExperience in designing and implementing a data archiving solution preferredExperience with scripting languages preferredExperience with disaster recovery/orchestration tools such as AppSync and Recoverpoint is preferredExperience in Linux and Windows operating systems preferredExperience with deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS and Azure is preferred--Communication/Interpersonal Skills:Excellent interpersonal skills and strong abilities to develop and enhance relationships with team members, other technical staff, customers and internal groups--Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational, and time management skillsWork well in team environments with internal and external resources as well as work independently on tasksCapable of mentoring peers who handle day to day tasks and make decisions regarding data protection direction for the organization--Required Qualifications at this Level --Education/Training: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience required.--LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:VMWare, Microsoft Server, Red-Hat Linux, and/or AIX certification(s) preferred.A+, Security+, and or Network+ certification(s) preferred.--Experience: LEVEL 1: No experience required beyond the minimum education (or equivalency) requirement.--LEVEL 2:Two years of related experience in the areas listed below is required.- Microcomputer skills (including Windows 2000, XP, and 7).- Microsoft Office application suite.- Server administration (Windows, Red Hat Linux, and/or AIX).- Experience configuring and installing servers used in mid-size networks (100 - 1000 users).- Windows, UNIX, VMware, and Citrix.- Tivoli's Inventory, Distributed Monitoring, TEC, Remote Control applications.- SAN and NAS technologies such as EMC, IBM, and HP EVA.--Skills: LEVEL 1:Working knowledge of incident management.Working knowledge of TCP/IP technologies necessary to configure servers and troubleshoot network errors.Ability to follow change configuration management protocols and update systems documentation based on Duke and industry best practices processes.Solid understanding of the IT industry primarily relating to Windows and/or UNIX operating systems, VMware, Citrix, server system architectures, storage systems, and system administration tools and best practices.Excellent technical skills to support the organization and assist team members across departments.Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.Good verbal and written skills.--LEVEL 2:In addition to the KSAs described for the Associate, the Intermediate will demonstrate:Advanced knowledge of IBM Director and/or HP Insight Manager.Proficient with incident and problem management.Proficient with configuration management.Proficient with change control policies and procedures.Strong business skills with an attention to end user and customer satisfaction.--Job Code: 00003849 DHTS SYSTEM ANALYSTJob Level: CD--Duke is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing employment opportunity without regard to an individual's age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.--Duke aspires to create a community built on collaboration, innovation, creativity, and belonging.
