Job Title: Systems Services Support
Primary Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid)
Contract Duration: 12 months

The Team
The Common Platform Solutions team supports development teams with platform capabilities through common solutions and frameworks delivered in a scalable infrastructure. These services are provided and supported in collaboration with our business partners, to help advance their business objectives with a focus on operational excellence, cost efficiency, innovation and close business alignment. We work closely with our business and systems partners to deliver technology solutions to the complex needs of our customers. We have exciting and challenging problems to solve and prioritize working collaboratively in a friendly environment.
This team manages the stability and business continuity for several development frameworks, application components, infrastructure/hosting and enterprise-level services. Our support practice serves as a main contact for business partners and is comprised of "operationally minded and technically oriented" engineers that provide assistance, triage and resolution of platform-related issues.

The Expertise You Have

  • BS or higher education in Computer Science or Software Engineering degree program.
  • 7+ years technical Systems Operations experience, preferably in an ITIL support capacity, Help Desk or similar role.
  • 7+ years' experience in Linux/UNIX
  • Preferred Apache Tomcat web server administration & support experience
  • Experience using and supporting any of the monitoring and alerting tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, DataDog, AWS Cloudwatch
  • Experience with AWS Cloud migrations and managing applications in AWS
  • Expertise with Site Reliability Engineering ensuring long-term sustainability and operational resilience
  • CI/CD tools, AWS, scripting such as Python, Perl
  • Preferred experience with administrating Enterprise Messaging Products such as Kafka and TIBCO Enterprise Message Service The Skills You Bring
    • Superb communication and crisis co-ordination skills
    • Any AWS certification is helpful. Architect / Developer / SysOps.
    • Demonstrated experience in supporting production environments for application built on technology components Java, Tomcat, Oracle & Informatica
    • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering SRE Best Practice
    • Experience with Shell scripting and Ansible automation
    • Multitask and being able to prioritize effectively
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during Major or Minor incident call
    • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 Application support for production and non-production environments
    • Investigate and resolve system generated alerts
    • Investigate and resolve user raised incidents and service requests
    • Coordinate with different teams for incident resolution
    • Raise issues to engineering teams if issues are beyond scope Note: For the shift: it is important that all candidates know the shift changes weekly depending on team members schedules.The team is responsible for support 7 days a week from 8am EST to 10PM EST and then an offshore team takes over.
