By using creative strategies to enhance the Universitys image, the office promotes the overall mission of North Carolina Central University to its external publics in order to solicit and acquire philanthropic support.Primary Purpose of PositionThis position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement and will develop and implement fund-raising strategies and activities for institutional prospects to carry forward the mission and vision of North Carolina Central University. The Associate Vice Chancellor will represent the Division of Institutional Advancement at NCCU in the market place to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward principal and planned gift prospects and align benefactor interests with the strategic objectives of the institution.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesProven ability to provide leadership, management, and strategic direction for staff and fundraising goals.Demonstrated success as a major gift and principal gift fundraiser.Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.Must have budget management experience.Possesses a thorough understanding of the spectrum of fundraising programs, including annual giving, planned/deferred giving, capital campaigns, and individual, corporate, and foundation gifts.A demonstrated ability to manage details, efficient work habits, and flexibility.Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.Minimum Education/ExperienceUndergraduate degree in a related field minimum of 10 years combined leadership and major gift fund-raising management experience including five to eight years in a senior management capacity with a nonprofit organization involving a significant number of people.Licenses or Certification required by Statute or RegulationNAEqual Opportunity EmployerNorth Carolina Central University is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
