The Manufacturing Associate III (AAV), will be part of a team responsible for execution of the tech transfer and subsequent CGMP manufacturing of viral vector therapies for use in clinical trials. Additional responsibilities include set-up, operation and cleaning of equipment, equipment and process monitoring and troubleshooting, ordering materials, authoring technical documents, training and mentoring junior staff, leading quality, and process improvement projects, and collaborating with functions supporting cGMP manufacture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Operate Bioprocess Equipment under adherence to cGMPs, OSHA regulations and company policies
* Inform management on status of all projects, any deviation, and significant findings
* Setup, test, and adjust manufacturing equipment if needed
* Effectively troubleshoot equipment and processing problems
* Document manufacturing activities clearly and accurately
* Draft and revise SOPs and Batch Records, as necessary
* Monitor critical process parameters
* Maintain room material inventory
* Proficiency with compliance; adherence to standard operating procedures , batch record, and good documentation practices
* Clean and sterilize parts and equipment as needed
* Collect hazardous and non-hazardous waste in correctly labeled barrels or containers


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.


* BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related discipline with 5+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Experience with one or more skills associated with upstream OR downstream manufacturing of biologics
* Prior manufacturing experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
* Broad knowledge of biotech manufacturing process and equipment including depth and tangential flow filtration, column chromatography, protein purification, formulation, aseptic technique, filter integrity testing, formulation, sterile filtration, and fill/finish operations
* Meticulous, detail oriented, and analytical
* Highly motivated with excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
* Willing to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to understand, apply, and evaluate basic chemistry, biology and scientific principles as appropriate for the position
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and technical)
* Team player, able to work with others


* Gene Therapy manufacturing experience
* Large scale purification experience
* Experience working in cGMP purification manufacturing

No travel is anticipated for this position
