ECMO training and certification program offer ed annuallyfor selected candidates. - - GeneralDescription of the Job Class Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinicalproceduresas defined in th e Respiratory Care Services scope of clinicalpractice. Work performed in accordance with physician orders. Definedduties are perfor med working strictly with adult populations or working onlywith neonatal , pediatric populations. - - Duties andResponsibilities of thisLevel Verify physician orders for appropriatenessand accurac y. -Understandpharmacological indicatio ns, dosages and response to adverse drug reactions. Consults withproviders based on patientcare assessments and in accordan ce to accepted protocols. Provides education topatients, families, physi cians, nursing and other members of the health careteam. Monitors response to all therapy. Documentsin thepatient medical record. Communicates all pertinent clinical informationduringpatient round s and handoff. Perform diagnosticcardiopulmonaryproce dures; inclusive of nasotracheal and artificial airway suctioning andsam ples, arterial blood gas punctures,pulse oximetry and EtCO2 monitoring, pulmonary function and bedside pulmonary mechanics,and EKG's.
