We are licensed to transport patients who require both basic life support and advanced life support services, and follow medical protocols outlined by VA OEMS and ODEMSA. We provide the following services: routine medical transports, hospital discharges, emergency department transfers, long-distance medical transportation, and other specialty services.

We started in 1984 with one ambulance, and three employees, two of which were the founding owners and who continue to operate and assist the organization. Job Description

A Communications Officer functions as an immediate supervisor, primary call-taker/call-dispatcher and is the immediate point of contact for patient care providers in the pre-hospital setting. The Communications Officer must have a thorough knowledge of the street/highway and facility locations in the EMS system in which he or she will be working. The Communications Officer must be able to multi-task incoming and outgoing phone calls as well as incoming and outgoing radio communications; while simultaneously organizing and dispatching providers to pre-scheduled trips and new non-scheduled trips in a variety of geographic facility locations, in order to send the most appropriate and closest available unit. The Communications Officer is also integral in assisting crews and management in performing beginning of shift and end of shift procedures, paperwork consolidation, and keeping daily logs and correspondences for the Operational Division of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Valid Virginia EMT-Basic or higher Certification
  • National Registry Certifications in addition are also preferred
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers is Required for all Applicants
  • 21+ years of age, Valid Virginia Driver's license with Virginia EVOC (or equivalency)
  • Non-Driving Applicants can be 18+ years of age
  • PHTLS is strongly preferred for all applicants but is not a requirement
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, strong ability to multi-task in a detail oriented time sensitive environment, ability to stay calm under pressure, moderate leadership skills required.
  • Familiarity with Cisco multi-line IP Phones, Windows 10, Microsoft Office Suite, Google GSuite & Chrome, & iOS and Android Devices.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and provide a current Virginia DMV report.
