Job Description:

Reporting to the VP, Head of Communications, the Senior Director, Enterprise & Business Communications develops and oversees the internal communications strategies to support Labcorp's mission, strategic priorities, values, culture and brand. Responsible for the development and oversight of the overarching strategy and tone for all enterprise-wide communications across geographies and all roles within every aspect of the business. Be the business partner to functional executive committee members and segment executives as needed, working closely with leaders across the company globally to create relevant programs that advance top priority company initiatives. Act as a strategic partner on number of matters, including diversity and inclusion, HR communications, and employee engagement.

This position is responsible for setting the internal communications strategy to drive business performance and engage and align employees.

Lead a team responsible for creating and executing enterprise-wide, audience-specific (wired, non-wired, on the go etc.), corporate function, and segment-specific communications programs, including major strategic initiatives, and engagement and reputation programs. These programs are expected to drive a shared understanding of Labcorp's direction and leaders' and employees' roles in company success. Ensure communications strategies are integrated into leadership decision making and planning.

Serve as an expert and provide counsel on communicating with diverse employee audiences and collaborate across the Communications team to ensure communications channels are appropriate and available, as well as collaborate on new communications technologies as appropriate.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing overarching internal enterprise communication strategy that drives employee engagement and supports major HR initiatives, diversity and inclusion, and culture.
  • Provide strategic counsel and coaching to CHRO, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, and other functional executive committee members as needed to ensure priorities and messaging are aligned and articulated in a manner consistent with the overall company strategy and culture.
  • Partner with HR, Legal and Finance senior executives to support relevant initiatives that have broad, company impact, including total rewards, business conduct, and company performance.
  • Work with direct reports to create overall communications strategy and plans for segment executive leaders that help achieve the business reach stated objectives and execute against the company's strategic pillars while enhancing and protecting the company's reputation across multiple stakeholders.
  • Sets agenda and provide strategic oversight & direction of company-wide communications, evaluating outcomes to ensure relevancy, quality and return on investment.
  • Responsible for building strategy to strengthen internal communication networks and messages to align performance and behaviors around strategies that drive team member and company success globally. Execute plans and create content for events, videos, podcasts or other creative tools in support of communications strategies.
  • Gathers team member sentiment analysis to help executive committee and other senior leaders understand team members' perspective on company direction, strategic priorities, culture, etc.
  • Measures effectiveness of enterprise and business segment communications through a variety of vehicles, including communication audits, surveys and informal networks. Collaborate across the Communications team and across the enterprise to develop relevant metrics and reporting.
  • Lead a team of global communications Senior/Managers and Specialists in developing thoughtful communications programs that advance company goals. Provide leadership, mentorship, feedback and development in support of their professional goals and company objectives. Allocate resources to support various business needs, development, etc.
  • Find and manage outside vendors and professional services as needed to support communication objectives.
  • Serve on department leadership team, responsible for talent management, relevant budgeting, development and strategic planning for department goals in support of company objectives.
  • Interact with key stakeholders (meetings, one-on-ones, organizational "listening") to be proactive in counseling and addressing communication issues, needs and opportunities.
  • Deliver exceptional written and oral communications for internal audiences to support communications plans.
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve communication processes and identifying critical communication opportunities.
  • Bring outside-in thinking to business leaders.
  • Identify and/or anticipate business and communication issues and help mitigate them.
  • Contribute communications strategies and tactics related to M&A, joint ventures and other investment opportunities.
