Job Description:The functions of this role include applications of data science and advanced analytics for employee benefits such as health, insurance, retirement savings, and other products. The successful candidate will work primarily with technical specialists in data science and technology and with managers of market research, technology, product, marketing, and finance teams across the firm. The assignments may include gathering internal and external data from multiple sources including data warehouses and survey research, data processing, exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, cluster analysis, predictive analytics, design of experiments, unstructured data mining, interpretation of findings, and presentation.The successful candidate will be capable of supporting projects across many areas with the highest degree of quality. They will have a proven record of assuring quality of data gathering and analysis, be a teammate who thrives in a small, robust work environment and acts with confidence to communicate to all levels of Workplace Investing as well as associates and management from other business units. The ideal Data Scientist for this role should be able to tackle projects from start to finish. I.e., they can work with market research on survey design, capture required data (structured or unstructured) in any shape and size using any programming languages vital, process the data, analyze them graphically and statistically, develop and execute machine learning approaches, draw exciting and unique insights into the business, package the information into relevant and effective presentations, and finally be able to present to senior management. As a data scientist in Fidelity Workplace Investments, you will contribute to advancing the analytics and data science capability for a variety of employee benefit products and will take the organization to the next level.The Expertise You HaveMaster's Degree in a quantitative or computational field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Economics, Business Analytics, Operations Research, or Applied Mathematics, with at least 8 years of relevant work experience, ORPhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related quantitative/computational fields with at least 4 years of relevant industry or research experienceThe Skills You BringData extraction and feature engineering skills for extracting, processing, and redefining big and small data into significant features for machine learning models. Proficient in SQL and at least one major relational database management system.Statistical and data science programming with proficiency in Python (Anaconda, 3.0+) and common machine learning libraries. Able to develop organized, intuitive, and documented code in Jupyter and/or an IDE.
