As a Lead Software Engineer in the Disability Evolution organization in Cary NC, you will be responsible for leading technical design and development of cross functional, multi-application, hybrid-cloud platform to solve complex business problems for our Group Disability customers and their employees. The role will be a focused on ensuring the rich technical solutions are architected and delivered increasing the maturity of our Group Disability platform. This role will be responsible for driving technical decisions, best practices, and development on a key component of our Catalyst platform - the FINEOS vendor product. In this position you'll be responsible for becoming an expert on the FINEOS product and being a key member of the FINEOS co-development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of complex functionality on the FINEOS platform to customize its behavior and to integrate with other MetLife systems using API's, and data extracts
  • Sprint planning - estimation, user story breakdown, user story review & feedback
  • Creating necessary technical documentation
  • Supporting diagnosis and remediation of production issues (Level 3)
  • Diagnosing and documenting technical debt
  • Working across FIENOS and MetLife development teams to craft appropriate technical solutions
  • Participates in fit/gap analysis of requirements, help manage user expectations and provide options, develop technical designs, conduct peer code reviews, develop code when necessary.
  • Mentor, motivate, drive innovation and develop existing team's technical capabilities.
  • Work closely across multiple roles in a matrixed organization to diagnose issues, deliver solutions and solve problems. Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

    Required:
    • 7+ years' experience in Software Development and strong technical experience with building enterprise scale distributed and cloud or hybrid-cloud applications.
    • Hands on development experience with JAVA/J2EE, SQL (PL/SQL), Shellscripts and the following frameworks/Technologies: Spring and AWS
    • Experience with integration tools such as MuleSoft, Websphere Message Broker, Informatica, Redis, MQ
    • Experience multi release code management and CI/CD pipeline using tools similar to Subversion, Git, Bamboo, Jenkins, UCD, Nexus, Artifactory, Gradle/Groovy
    • Experience with AZURE PAAS products or AWS services and tools
    • Experience with following or similar databases: Oracle
    • Experience with both waterfall, iterative and agile methodologies and use of tools such as JIRA
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with focused attention to details, as well as, demonstrated professionalism and time/task management skills; ability to establish strong relationships. Preferred:
      • Background working in Insurance and/or Banking
      • Experience with Vendor platform development (ViTech, GuideWire, Duck Creek, FINEOS)
      • Experience with Vendor platform integration (ViTech, GuideWire, Duck Creek, FINEOS)
      • Experience instrumenting and using monitoring tools such as Splunk
      • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or related field
