today.General DescriptionDuke Health Technology Solutions is
searching for a Senior Director for Duke Health Applications
Solutions and Services. -Reporting jointly to the Chief Technology
Officer and Chief Health Information Officer, you will be
responsible for overseeing the management and modernization of Duke
Health's clinical and enterprise business application portfolios. -
You will lead clinical and enterprise business applications teams
and oversee their execution of software lifecycle delivery and
application portfolio management. - You will also oversee
Application Services teams and lead both Application Solutions and
Application Services teams through application modernization and
cloud adoption. -You will lead, develop, and implement standards in
application design, management, and maintenance for all mission
critical applications in Duke Health through the Application Center
of Excellence. -Duke University Health System is a complex
environment, sand we are looking for a strategic leader to join the
offices of CTO and CHIO to lead the application modernization
journey at Duke. You will be engaging customers and leaders across
Duke Health - doctors, nurses, other caregivers, researchers,
professors, and academic leaders, as well as health system
administrators - to help understand needs, and develop
comprehensive strategies and solutions. - - -Duties and
Responsibilities
- Oversee the effective design, delivery, and maintenance of
Application Solutions
- Direct Oversight of the following Application Portfolios and
the teams responsible for them
- Clinical
- Cardiology & Clinical Device Integration
- Nursing
- Specialty Clinical Applications
- Enterprise Business Applications
- Patient Revenue Management Applications
- Enterprise Applications and Platforms
- Indirect Oversight (through Application Center of
Excellence)
- IT Partners outside of DHTS
- Research Applications -
- Oversee the delivery and maturation of a broad portfolio of
Applications Services to ensure application teams and relevant
stakeholders can effectively serve the needs of Duke Health's
diverse customers:
- EHR (Epic) Application and Core Services
- Integration Services (Integration Engine & APIs)
- Robotic Business Process Automation
- Application Deployment/Delivery Platforms
- Vended Applications deployed through traditional on-prem
infrastructure
- Vended and Custom Applications through application
modernization technologies
- Vended Applications on Cloud/SAAS -
- Lead the following Key Strategic Initiatives in DHTS
- Application Portfolio Management
- Manage application portfolio and promote enterprise application
offerings when applicable
- Provide guidance on standards and new technologies through the
Application Center of Excellence
- Application Modernization
- IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and partner cloud services
- Utilize current and future platforms and technologies
(examples: containerization, microservices and APIs, low code
development, automation)
- Drive Application modernization roadmap, continuous
assessments, and automation assessments
- Oversee Portfolio Management, Cost-Benefit Analyses, Road
mapping, and Business Planning
- Develop and execute migration and modernization plans -
- Application Center of Excellence
- Work with Duke Health application owners, enterprise
architects, and senior leaders to develop strategies and standards
for the Duke Health application portfolio
- Develop and set standards relating to application development
and support including high level diagrams and workflows, business
continuity and resiliency plans, user acceptance and integrated
test plans, playbooks, SDLC best practices, and other essential
artifacts to support the management and operations of the
applications -
- Play a key leadership role in the following enterprise
strategic initiatives in DHTS
- Drive adoption of Lean, DevOps, agile and bi-modal
frameworks
- Management and delivery of APIs
- Data integration and delivery strategy
- Enterprise Architecture
- Application modernization strategies -
- Team Management and Development of Leaders
- Provide oversight and management for enterprise portfolio of
projects, products, and services Set appropriate KPIs to track and
measure success
- Build strong working relationships with members of his/her team
and those within other relevant teams, departments, or
disciplines
- Coach leaders and staff to be problem solvers
- Lead change by empowerment, influence and championing workforce
strategies and organizational change
- Budget Management
- Oversee operating budget
- Manage capital expenditures
- Look for opportunities for cost efficiencies. Manage the fiscal
portfolio and determine when there are needs to reduce/eliminate
costs -
- Represent DHTS Senior Leader Team in
- Interactions with key Duke Health leaders
- External negotiations, conferences, and public forums -
- Keep abreast of key industry trends and maintain a broad and
deep understanding of multiple technologies, reference
architectures, and business applications -
- Other duties as assigned - -EducationBachelor's Degree
required. Master's degree preferred. -EducationMinimum of 10 -years
