The Software Engineer is responsible for collaborating with project teams to design and implement custom software solutions that support data compilation, organization, analysis, and reporting.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Develops information systems through design, development, and installation of software solutions
  • Determines operational feasibility by thorough analysis, problem definition, reviewing requirements, solution development, and proposing solutions
  • Collaborates with project teams to understand challenges, data needs, technology, systems flow, data usage, work processes, and software requirements
  • Writes and maintains good documentation, including but not limited to software specifications, architecture designs, code comments, clear code, testing plans, and deployment plans
  • Provides training, and guidance, to Operations team members in the use of software and automation tools
  • Improves operations by conducting systems analysis and recommending changes in policies and procedures
  • Responsible for providing technical support and incident resolution to in-house developed applications; responsible for collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues
  • Provides general infrastructure support to the team, including but not limited presenting/teaching at department meetings, assisting in establishing training materials, and contributing to other general department documents or policies such as the development of departmental working practice documents and SOPs
  • Responsible for being a contributing member of a multidisciplinary project team, communicating actively and frequently with other team members and adhering to company SOPs and policies

      • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field of study
      • Not less than four (4) years' experience providing custom data solutions in a regulated laboratory environmentSkills:
        • Demonstrated proficiency with relational databases including Microsoft SQL, MySQL, PostgresSQL or similar, and underlying data structure
        • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing application development languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Microsoft PowerShell Scripting in the delivery of automated solutions in a laboratory environment
        • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
        • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities; ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced team environment
        • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a diversity of individuals across departments and functional groups
        • Creative problem-solving skills; proven ability to solve complicated analytical problems
        • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
        • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
        • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse communitySupervisory Responsibility
