Position Summary The Sr. Analyst, IT - Analytics Developer role is to design, develop, monitor, and maintain enterprise business intelligence solutions. The Analytics Developer will support business SMEs in gathering data requirements from business stakeholders, perform gap analysis, and work with the EDM development team to transform the requirements into quality information delivery. As a member of the Business Intelligence (BI) Development Team, the Analytics Developer will be tasked with developing Business Intelligence solutions such as reports, dashboards, and visualizations. They may also develop and monitor dashboards and reports that measure BI system performance across all BI platforms. They must be able to deliver clear, concise communication to project team and mid-level managers. The Analytics Developer will assess user requirements and determining the most appropriate delivery mechanism to produce insight for actionable decision-making practices. This individual will stay current of new BI tools and trends, and champion consistency and best practices for Cognos and other BI platforms within the DCRI. Position Responsibilities * Design and creation of high-impact visual applications to facilitate decision making and research functions of the DCRI * Participate in interviewing operational stakeholders and understanding/documenting the business requirements * Participate in the development and maintenance of BI policies, procedures, and best practices * Participate in the upgrade of software/releases, including the customization of functionality and the performance of regression testing * Assisting with interfacing of BI or visualization components into customer facing applications or portals * Documentation of environment / production change controls logs * Maintain change control and testing processes for modifications * Understand/execute release/change management processes for changes to business applications * Take ownership of a problem and communicate status / risks to manager regarding solution delivery * Stay current on technologies, current issues, trends and tools affecting BI development * Other duties as assigned Education and Experience * BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field or equivalent experience * 5+ years combined experience in data analysis and business intelligence * 2+ years development experience with one of the following BI platforms: IBM Cognos, SAP Business Objects or Microsoft BI * 2+ years development experience with the following BI Data Visualization platforms: Tableau Desktop & Tableau Enterprise Server * Expert level SQL query writing ability to reproduce report results with independently written SQL queries for unit test. * Experience working with relational technologies including Oracle and SQL Server, star schemas, and OLAP Skills, Training and Certifications * Strong customer focus with a demonstrated ability to work closely with technical and business users alike is required * Experience with multiple environments need to support full SDLC (separate development, validation, and production environments) * Excellent analytical, interpersonal, leadership, project management and problem solving skills * Demonstrates good work ethic, adherence to details, and track record of customer service * Proven ability to work both independently and in team environments * Excellent Verbal and written communication * Experience implementing visualization toolsets as an extension to an existing BI environment will be a plus Duke is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing employment opportunity without regard to an individual's age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
