Job DescriptionThe Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club/JB Duke/Lodge is now seeking an area reservations agent to join our RESERVATIONS Team. This is a full time position, requiring the successful candidate to work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week & 40 hours per day. Shift times would each week, minimum 1 year hotel experience preferred. Preferred skills are Maestro and/or IHotelier experience is a plus. Responsibilities: To take and input reservations in a courteous, efficient manner, while selling the property and its amenities at the best possible rate to maximize revenues. Duties:

  • Reports to work dressed in proper attire and on time as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Ensure prompt and courteous answering of reservation lines.
  • Keep abreast of current information regarding room rates, room availability, special packages, special promotions and current sell status.
  • Familiar with hours of operation of all hotel outlets and services available to guests.
  • Follows hotel operation procedures, reports to work with a smile.
  • Keeps the Department Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters so that prompt corrective action can be taken.
  • Keeps fully aware of group reservation systems, policy, packages, plans, advance deposits, etc.
  • Willing to help other hotel departments when needed. Willing to help Guest Service Representatives when necessary.
  • Enters, cancels or changes iHotelier reservations.
  • Block rooms for special guests.
  • Keeps aware of all special dates (i.e., graduation, parents' weekend, and homecomings) and the occupancy status of those dates.
  • If necessary, assist in cross-training Guest Service Representatives on how to appropriately take individual and group reservations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Revenue Manager or Reservations Supervisor. This Job Description is an overview of daily responsibilities you are required to perform. Physical Demands: Lift 15 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 5 pounds. Math Skills: Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Apply fractions, percentages, ration and proportion. Language Skills: Must have developed English language skills to the point to be able to: Communicate effectively (both written and orally) with other employees, guests or vendors as needed. Relationships to Data, People and Things: Data: Coordination: Determination of time, place and sequence of operations or actions to be taken on the basis of analysis of data, as well as executing determination and/or reporting on events. People: Determining or interpreting work procedures while maintaining harmonious relations and promoting efficiency. A variety of responsibilities are involved in this function. Things: Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move or carry objects or materials. Involves little or no latitude for judgment with regard to attainment of standards or in selecting appropriate tool, object or material. Specific Vocational Preparation: An occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, on the job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs. To do this job you must have the following licenses or certifications before being hired: High School Diploma or equivalent required. To do this job you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience: Previous hotel or front office experience preferred. NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty four hours a day. I am aware that at times it will be necessary to move me from my accustomed shift if business demands. I also understand that business determines the amount of hours I work. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time.
