with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in High Point, North
Carolina, 27262! Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour
Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year required
License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: NIHSS
certification Description: The facility has 351 licensed beds. It
is a teaching hospital with a chest pain center and a stroke
center. The unit has 36 beds with an average daily census of 35
patients. Patient types include stroke, heart failure, TIA, sepsis,
syncope, AKI, chest pain, and other general intermediate diagnoses.
Patient ratios are RN: 1:4, LPN: 1:4, and CNA: 1:9-12. General care
of intermediate patients is required. This is the designated
intermediate care stroke unit. Skills needed include detecting and
escalating neuro changes. Manage some hemodynamic drips, including
titrating down to off Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Neo, Nitro, and
Amiodarone. Telemetry understanding and analysis of rhythms are
necessary. Back-up support for cardiac surveillance is available.
Understanding of heated high-flow and TR bands is required. Support
within the department includes CNAs. CNA duties involve general
ADLs, vital signs, ambulation/mobility assistance, feeding
assistance, blood sugar monitoring, and other tasks as assigned.
There is a charge nurse available. Phlebotomy services are
provided. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalists and
intensivists are present 24/7. Telemetry monitoring and tech
support are available. Technology and equipment include: EMR:
Encompass/EPIC IV Pump: Baxter (transitioning to Alaris) Medication
dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Philips MX-40 Unit-specific
equipment: lifting equipment, vital signs equipment, CBG machines,
wound vacs as needed, specialty beds as required, and bedside
