(Experienced RN) Pediatric & Congenital Cath/EP Short Stay Unit –
Duke University Hospital Duke University Health System seeks to
hire an experienced Registered Nurse who will embrace our mission
of Advancing Health Together. About the Unit The Pediatric &
Congenital Cath/EP Short Stay Unit cares for both inpatient and
outpatient populations undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic
procedures within the cardiovascular service line. This role
includes, but is not limited to, preparing patients for procedures,
assisting during anesthesia recovery, and providing ongoing
observation and care during the recovery period. Nurses in this
area care for pediatric patients and adults with congenital heart
disease, as well as patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The unit
supports patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional heart
catheterizations, electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations, and
implantation of EP devices. Work Schedule Full-time, day shift
Three 12-hour shifts per week 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. 36 hours per
week What you will do As a Clinical Nurse II at Duke University
Health System, you will plan and provide professional nursing care
for patients in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of
care, established policies and procedures, and the scope of the RN
as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Responsibilities
include: Plan, provide, supervise, and document professional
nursing care using the nursing process in accordance with physician
orders and established policies and procedures Use professional
nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on
assessment of the patient’s baseline needs and response to care
Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of licensed and
unlicensed care providers Assist other nursing personnel in the
delivery of nursing care and serve as team leader or charge nurse
as assigned Monitor and initiate corrective action to maintain a
safe environment of care, including equipment and material
resources Participate in professional development by maintaining
competencies, identifying learning needs, and seeking appropriate
educational opportunities Serve as a preceptor and support the
development of staff and learners Participate in the identification
of clinical and operational performance improvement opportunities
and related initiatives Perform other related duties incidental to
the work described herein What you can expect: This role requires
strong assessment skills, critical thinking, and the ability to
multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. Nurses in this
position are expected to document assessments, plans of care,
interventions, evaluations, and re-evaluations of patient status;
identify and address the nursing needs of acute and chronically ill
patients; seek out resources independently; and work
collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. The role also
includes educating patients and families and building effective
relationships with patients, families, visitors, physicians,
leadership, and other members of the healthcare team. What we will

need: Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing
program, Associate Degree in Nursing program, or Nursing Diploma
program A minimum of one year of experience as a clinical nurse is
required All registered nurses without a Bachelor of Science in
Nursing or higher will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN
program within two years of their start date and complete the
program within seven years of their start date. Preferred
Experience: Pediatric experience strongly preferred. Experience in
Pre-Op, PACU, Cardiac, and ICU settings strongly preferred.
Licensure and Certification Required Current registration with the
North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse, or
current compact RN licensure authorized to practice in North
Carolina BLS required ACLS required within 90 days of hire PALS
