Job Description:

Pharmacy Technician role involves supporting pharmacists with medication review, compounding, and dispensing under their supervision.

The Certified Technician provides support to the pharmacist by reviewing, compounding and dispensing medications. All work is carried out under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.

This position qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes commitment incentives spread over a two-year period.

Responsibilities:

• 
  
• Under the supervision of a pharmacist, fulfills medication and supply orders for distribution to hospitals and clinics.
  
• Compounds and/or repackages medications (sterile products, oral, topical, etc.) under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
  
• Coordinates shipments to hospitals and clinics with multiple couriers and shipment pathways and ensures compliance with temperature requirements.
  
• Documents pharmaceutical distribution activities for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, etc. using automated and paper systems.
  
• Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy distribution or compounding services.
  
• Supports hospital automated dispensing technology to supply correct refill medications thru targeted distribution programs.
  
• Receives, restocks, and rotates inventory, and completes expiration date management.
  
• Assists with training of new employees, educating them in job-specific functions.
  
• Contributes to process improvement projects.
  
• Participates in regulatory compliance inspection of medication storage areas, including inspections and/or controlled substance inventories.
  
  
  Requirements
  
  Education:
  
  
  • 
    
  • None required, completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
    
    
    Licensure/Certification:
    
    
    • 
      
    • Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
      
    • CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
      
      
      Professional Experience:
      
      
      • 
        
      • Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
        
      • Sterile compounding experience is preferred.
        
        
        Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
        
        
        • 
          
        • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
          
        • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
          
        • Must be able to reach over head to access shelved product or for cleaning.
