Military Veterans are Encouraged to Apply. -Akkodis is seeking a Medical Diagnostics Sr. Mechanical Engineer for a 12 to 24 month contract -position with a client located in Durham, NC. You must be a strong team player, highly organized, a strong communicator, hypothesis and data driven, detail oriented and willing to learn and explore new technologies and platforms as we continue to deliver state-of-the-art diagnostic products and sustain our large on-market portfolio. You will play a key role in coordinating and leading new product in-vitro diagnostic analyzer design and development initiatives for Global Diagnostics. -You will enable product teams to successfully meet company objectives including meeting or exceeding design requirements while adhering to schedule and cost targets. -You will be required to have engineering skills to facilitate expedient and logical project decisions, including technical work prioritization. -You will work on development initiatives through an internal matrix organization in addition to managing external consulting and design firms as applicable. - -Pay/Salary Range: - $55.00 to $70.00 per hour depending on experience -Medical Diagnostics Sr. Mechanical Engineer job responsibilities include:--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Support the design and development of mechanical systems and mechanisms while considering electrical control systems and underlying biological process needs.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Ensure proper development and on-time delivery of design specifications, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), design evaluations, and application of design robustness disciplines--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Ensure that detailed drawings, BOMs, and release documents are created for the above design activities, in collaboration with the Product Engineering, CAD and PLM team, as needed.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Provide engineering leadership for multiple projects, including new products from concept design into Alpha Phase development.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Facilitate and contribute to problem solving and technical support; including design updates, process development and related documentation.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Work in a matrix organization with multi-disciplinary teams, which include Field Service, Manufacturing, Procurement, Customer Service and Quality Assurance, and U.S. and International Commercial teams.Implement DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFS (Design for Serviceability), DFR (Design for Reliability) and DFT (Design for Test), including methods to simplify design Verification and Validation and production testing.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Support Cross Functional Team (CFT) collaboration to develop designs, prototypes, drawings, BOMs, test plans, and implementation of new/improved products and components.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Support internal/external contract design resources as required. -QUALIFICATIONS:--- - - - - - - - - - - - - BSME or equivalent with 8+ years of demonstrated hands on product design and/or mechanical engineering experience. Prior experience in a regulated industry such as healthcare, laboratory diagnostics, medical devices, or pharmaceutical companies.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Knowledge and practical application of current and emerging engineering science and cutting-edge technologies. Experience with managing and sustaining on-market products. - Ability to concurrently handle multiple project assignments. Demonstrated new product development experience from concept through commercialization. Proven track record of product development from concept to Alpha and experience finding solutions to challenges including new technologies and innovations for complex engineering systems.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Experience with SolidWorks 3D Engineering Design Software. Knowledge of numeric analysis and design engineering tools such as FEA, Mathcad, MATLAB are preferred. Experience working on optical systems, stress analysis, thermal design and tolerance analysis. Root cause analysis, data analysis techniques and documentation. Demonstrated proficiency in creating engineering specifications and technical requirements.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Thorough understanding of robust engineering methodologies and stage-gate development processes as well as manufacturing/procurement/quality processes.--- - - - - - - - - - - - - Demonstrated experience in critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills, decision-making, planning and organizing. Pay Details: $55.00 to $70.00 PER HOUR
