outpatient surgery centers. Occ Summary Perform and evaluate
diagnostic and therapeut icclinical procedures asdefined in the
Respiratory Care Services scope o fclinical practice,performing
work in accordance with physician orders i nthe neonatal,pediatric
and adult patient populations. WorkP erformed Perform all duties
and responsibilities required of aRe spiratory CarePractitioner
I.Evaluate appropriateness of medicalorders.P roficient in the
application of mechanical ventilatormodalities.Proficie nt in the
application of Non-InvasivePositive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV );
Continuous Positive AirwayPressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive
Airwa y Pressure(BiPAP)Perform endotracheal intubation under the
observationof a Supervisor or Advanced Practitioner.
Performextubations.Serve as membe r of the code/ emergency
team.Administer medical sert nasogastri c and
orogastrictubes.Perform tracheotomy tube changes. Perform capnogra
phymonitoring.Transport patients requiring mechanical ventilationor
airw ay terpret clinical data to optimizepatient clinical object
ives.Participate in clinical rounds withphysicians, nurses and
otherheal th care providersAssist withBronchoscopy. Assist with
orientation and tr aining of Level IIRT.Assure safeoperations of
devices in theMRI.Qualifi ed for certification in the hyperbaric
chamber ifapplicable to the insti tution scope of practice
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge necessary to make
appropriate clinical decisions andinter action relative to the
specific age of a patient.Skillsvalidation/certif ication of
competencies for the duties andresponsibilities requiredfor a Level
I RT.Skills validation /certifications of competencies for the du
ties and responsibilities ofthislevel.Work involves contact with
patien ts of all ages, familymembers, physicians, nursing, and all
other member s of the health careteam.Work is performed in all
areas of the hospital. Work mayrequire lifting or pushing in excess
of 30 pounds.Requiredtocar ryemergency airway bag weighing
approximately 20 pounds.Work requireswal king, running, climbing
and bending.Customer service andcommunication ex pertise. Level
Characteristics N/A Minimum Qualifications Education Completion of
a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program requirements
(Associates Degree or the equivalent). Must maintain annual skill
maintenance requirements Must maintain annual safety/compliance
Must maintain North Carolina annual license requirements for CEUs
Experience Six months to one year of clinical experience following
graduation from a respiratory care program. Degrees, Licensures,
Certifications North Carolina State Licensure Registry ( RRT) by
the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification
in Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life
Support (ACLS) Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS)Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRPS) if applicable
