Ambulatory Care Lead RN is a role developed to work in
coordinationwith the nursing leadershipin an assigned clinic/pra
cticeto ensure the work is accomplishedeffectively. The Ambulatory
CareL eadRN is the first line support forstaff, physicians and
otherrelated p roviders on service- specificclinical issues. The
Ambulatory Care Lead R Nisgenerally a long-termrole, requiring
clinical andinterpersonal skills .The Ambulatory Care Lead RN
collaborates with themanager on clinical an dnon-clinical issues
(employee relations, individual behaviors, physicia nrelationships,
etc.). The AmbulatoryCare Lead RN is the support for the
clinic/practice when the manager isunavailable. The Clinical
TeamLeaderi sresponsible for supervising, directing, coaching
andmentoring theirassi gned core group ofstaff. Work Performed
Duties and responsibilitiesinclu de all those required of the ACN
IV aswell as: Plan and coordinateclinic al requirements for staff
and ensure that allCBO and CBE requirements fo rstaff are current.
Plan and assist with coordination of staff schedules and submit
formanager approval. Coordinate clinical requirementswith sta ff
regarding equipment andsupplies. Consult with preceptors
andorientees on a regular basis to providesupport and determine
howorientation shoul d proceed on an individualbasis.Collaborate
with the manager for issuere solutions and projects toimprove work
flow processesthroughout the depar tment utilizing a proactive
approach. Collaborate with different departm ents (pharmacy,
radiology, lab,registration) to resolve issues andimprov e work
flow processes throughout the department. Collaboratewith the nur
se managers in the interview process for newapplicants.
Mentor/coach sta ff to enhance their professional
development.Assesses the performanceof assigned new hires and
orientees includingentry level nurses, nursingcar e assistants and
health unit coordinators; provides ongoingfeedbackand c oaching.
Understand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supp
lyissues to appropriate teammembers. Mentor and monitor the
preceptors f or all new employees.Provide clinical/education
updates and skill check- offs to entire staffon a regular basis.
Provides immediatesupport andedu cation on policy,
procedures,equipment and supplies. Responsible forlear ning,
implementing and teaching newtechnology/procedures. Demonstrates a
wareness of current problems and basic plan for allpatients
withinassign ed area. Provides clinical consultation and guidance
as needed tofacilit atepatient care. Gives assistance and/or
direction tostaff to facilitate qualitypatient flow. Assess
staffing needs according to workloadand sta ff competency;
Re-assigns and adjusts staffingbasedupon patientcare need s.
Delegates responsibilities within the scope ofpractice and
validatedc ompetencies in order to meet theworkload demandsof the
shift. Facilitate s assignments that support learning for the
orientee or nurselearner. Pr omotes an atmosphere of open
communication thatfacilitates staffinputin to
decision-making,resolution of conflict, andcollegiality amongall
heal th team members. Communicates in an effective, professional
manner. Fac ilitates staff performance audits related toattitude,
teamperformance, T he Joint Commission, DFSStandards and
SCIPinitiatives. Reviewsand commen ts on forwarded SRSsrelated to
their team. Facilitates and encourages st aff participation in
departmental andentity committee and councilmeeting s. Attends
departmental and entity committee meetings as assigned. Coord
inates, facilitates, participates and directs departmentalprojects

Minimum Qualifications
Education Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or
Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All
registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or
higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program
within two years of their start date and to complete the program
within five years of their start date.
Experience 2 years of appropriate clinical experience required
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN
licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
