At the event, you will have the opportunity to tour Duke University Hospital; learn about the many benefits working in our health system; and meet recruiters and hiring managers for an interview and a potential same day offer for open RN positions in these units.

    On February 1, join us on the six floor of Duke Medicine Pavilion (6E) East Waiting Room on the Duke University Hospital campus in Durham, NC. Parking is available nearby at Duke Medicine Circle Parking Garage, located at 302 Trent Drive.

    Those attending should wear comfortable shoes, scrubs, and bring a valid photo ID for your unit tour. Bring your parking ticket with you to 6East Waiting Room to receive validated parking.

    We are currently hiring new graduate and experienced nurses in all Heart Services Step Down. Experienced RNs with 1 year of experience will qualify for $15K bonus.

    Cardiology Step Down Unit

    There are 3 Cardiac Stepdown Units at Duke University Hospital Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4
    • Care for cardiology medicine patients with a range of diagnoses including acute coronary syndrome, post cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures, dysrhythmias, heart failure, heart transplant workups and congenital heart disease.
    • The patients require high acuity care, and many come directly from the ICU, post procedures or outside hospitals requiring an increased level of care and multisystem assessments and interventions.
    • Many times, the care results in multi-system involvement which may include pulmonary, renal, endocrine and neurology.
    • The environment is fast paced, challenging and a great place to promote and develop your critical thinking skills with many opportunities for professional growth.
      Cardiothoracic Step Down Unit

      There are 3 Cardiothoracic (CT) Stepdown Units at Duke University Hospital Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4
      • Care for adult patients who are transitioning from the Cardiothoracic ICU.
      • The patients require high acuity care with diagnoses such as pre/post cardiothoracic surgery, coronary artery bypass grafts, heart valve repair and replacements, aortic and aneurysm repairs, wedge resections, lobectomies, heart transplants, lung transplants, and ventricular assist devices.
      • The environment is fast paced where you will develop critical thinking skills while surrounded by opportunities for professional growth. Job Summary
        As a Clinical Nurse with Duke University Health System, you will make providing service your priority while caring for the whole person in a patient-centered atmosphere. The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities. Utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients in guided by DUHS Professional Practice model participate in the clinical ladder program, educational activities, departmental committees, research projects or other health related projects as assigned. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Adheres to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

        Work Hours & Shifts:
        3 - 12 hour shifts - day/night rotating weekly

        Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
        • 0 - 1 year of experience - accepting new and recent graduates
        • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher), Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program is required.
        • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date
        • RN license required
