Full-Time Registered Nurse First Assist for OR

well as sports medicine, oral, plastic, podiatry, general
bariatric, interventional radiology, pain management, and

attention to each and every patient we serve, with physicians
providing personalized care.
Salary Range: $28-$45 per hour depending on experience
Sign-On Bonus: $5000 with a 2-year commitment

Job Summary
The RN First Assist will support the continuity of care for
Perioperative patients. The cope of practice includes pre operative
patient care management, intraoperative surgical first assisting,
and post operative patient care management. The role will help
expedite surgical productivity, 2nd assist when needed, and first
assist the surgeons.
Job Duties
- Provide preoperative patient management in collaboration with
other healthcare providers, including, but not limited to:
preoperative evaluations, communicate/collaborate regarding the
patient plan of care,
- Intraoperative surgical first assisting, including, but not
limited to: using instruments/medical devices, providing exposure,
handling and/or cutting tissues, providing homeostasis, and
suturing
- Postoperative patient management in collaboration with other
HCP's in the immediate postoperative period.
- Provide CRNFA experience and skill to the operating surgeon
during the operative procedure and comprehensive nursing management
of care during the Perioperative phase
- Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards,
policies, and procedures and guidelines in caring for adolescent,
adult, and geriatric patients: follows age specific standards in
administering medications based on patient's age; follows age
specific standards of care during altered states of consciousness
related to analgesia, conscious sedation or anesthesia; uses age
specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines to
perform treatments and procedures that are routine for unit/clinic
based on patient's age
- Incorporates cultural and developmental needs into plan of
care: in collaboration with the patient/family, and in a
developmentally and culturally appropriate manner, implements the
plan of care; demonstrates competency in the provision of nursing
care according to established standards of nursing practice and in
developmentally appropriate manner
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, highly organized
with excellent organizational and decision making skills.
- Demonstrates ability to concentrate on many detailed requests
despite numerous interruptions and the ability to prioritize tasks
to maintain patient safety
- Provides documentation of patient care in the patient record
according to established standards of nursing care.
- Participates and promotes Universal Protocol and time out
procedure in every procedure
- Demonstrates ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
including, surgeons, physician's assistants, anesthesia providers,
SPD staff, radiology and all other OR team members to plan for the
care of the patient and to provide for the optimal outcome for the
patient. The OR RN is a patient advocate and assess the patients
needs through the peri-opertive experience and adjusts the plan of
care accordingly while communicating the same with all team
members
- Participates in performance improvement activities which
include collecting, analyzing data to identify quantifiable
measures to maintain quality and the promotion of desired outcomes.
Also includes participation in development of patient care delivery
systems, standards, policy and procedures, and problem-solving
teams
Educational & Experience Requirements
- BSN required with completion of an RNFA program that includes
didactic and supervised clinical practice, based on AORN's core
curriculum for RNFA's
- Current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse First Assist
(CRNFA) from the North Carolina Board of Nursing_ required_
CNOR _ required_
- BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) required
- ACLS & PALS from American Heart Association (AHA) preferred;
must obtain within 6 months of hire if certification is not
currently active
- Three (3) years of experience in Perioperative Nursing
required
- Must have clinical knowledge of technology and treatment
applications, possess skills to educate/train staff as needed,
complies with AORN standards, scrubbing circulating skills, as well
as effective communication skills both verbally and written
