Occ SummaryIndependently plan and provide professional nursi ng
care for patientsin accordance with physician ordersand established
policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and
familie s inaccordance with the scope of theRN as defined by the
North Carolina Board of Nursing.
Work PerformedPlan, provide, super vise and document professional
nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in
accordance with physicianorders and established policie s and
procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the
plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and
resp onse to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of
other licens ed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing
personnel in the de livery of nursing care and actas team leader or
charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unitas
assigned.Monitor and initiate correctiv e action to maintain the
environment ofcare including equipment and mate rial
resources.Participate in own professional development by maintainin
g requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking
appropria teassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor
and support the d evelopment of other staff and
formallearners.Participate in the identifi cation of clinical or

Minimum Qualifications
Education Workrequires graduation from an accredited BSN program.
Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April
11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are
expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years
of their start date but must complete the program within five years
of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014
are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job
classification.
Experience Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is
required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of
experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this
level.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must havecurrent or compact RN
licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. - Duke is
