for 2nd Shift and $4.00 Shift Differential for Weekends!
The following statements are intended to describe the general
nature and level of work being performed and are not intended to be
a complete list of all responsibilities, duties and skills
required. SCOPE OF PRACTICE: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) may
participate in assuring the implementation of the established
health care plan(s) for a specific number of clients as assigned
and supervised by the Registered Nurse (RN). This participation in
assuring plan of care implementation may be carried out by the
LPN/RN. The -LPN/RN -participates and supports ongoing data
collection. Yours is a dependent role. Follows all North Carolina
Board of Nursing guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Oversee
day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with
current rules and regulations, comply with all written policies and
procedures and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
-Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the RN
Supervisor/DON concerning the activities of your shift as required.
-Meet with your assigned nursing assistants in planning the shifts
services, programs and activities. -Utilize the electronic health
record to document Events/Observations, etc. in accordance with
established documentation policies and procedures. -Admit,
discharge and transfer residents as required. Ensure rooms are
ready for admission. -Complete "Summary of Investigation" reports
as necessary. Notify the RN Supervisor/DON, the residents attending
physician and the residents' representative when a resident is
involved in an incident or accident. -Arrange for diagnostic and
therapeutic services as ordered by the physician, and in accordance
with established policies and procedures. -Consult with the
resident physician in providing the residents care, treatments,
medication orders, diets, etc., as necessary. -Monitor acutely ill
residents routinely. -Administer nursing services necessary to
maintain the highest practicable level of care and comfort. -Report
changes in the resident's condition to the RN Supervisor/DON, the
physician, and the resident's representative. -Report any/all
discrepancies concerning documentation to the RN Supervisor/DON,
i.e.: physician orders, diet orders, therapy orders, etc. -Ensure
narcotic records are accurate for your shift, report any/all
discrepancies in controlled drug counts to the RN Supervisor/DON.
-Discard/record drugs and narcotics as required, and in accordance
with established policies and procedures. -Make daily rounds on
your hall/unit/shift to ensure that nursing service personnel are
performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable
nursing standards. Report problem areas to the RN Supervisor/DON.
Inform the RN Supervisor/DON of staffing needs when assigned
personnel fail to report to work. -Ensure you have an adequate
supply of medications, supplies and equipment on hand to meet the
nursing needs of the residents. -Complaints & Grievances: Report
and investigate complaints and grievances filed by residents,
families, etc. Report these to the RN Supervisor/DON immediately
and indicate what action(s) were taken to resolve the complaint or
grievance. -Report all allegations of suspected resident abuse
and/or neglect, misappropriation and/or exploitation to the RN
Supervisor/Director of Nurses/Administrator immediately, in
addition to other required agencies, i.e. police, state agency,
etc. -Observe staff to see that they follow infection control
protocols i.e.: handwashing, proper use of PPE, proper disposal of
PPE, etc. -Report occupational exposure to blood, body fluids,
infectious materials and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the
facilities policies and procedures. -Observe to see that staff wear
and/or use safety equipment i.e.: back brace, gait belt, mechanical
lifts, etc. Updated 1/2019 Job Description: LPN/RN Nurse in Charge
(LPN)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED: Attend and participate
in outside training programs, facility provided in-service
training. These may include, but are not limited to: OSHA, HIPAA,
Antibiotic Stewardship, Advanced Directives, etc. -Participate in
the facility surveys (inspections) made by the authorized
government agencies as may be required -Provide data as requested
for the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committee.
-Follow all HIPAA regulations. ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS -Must possess a
current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN in this
state. -Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the
English language. -Preferred minimum of (2) years nurse-in-charge
experience in a hospital or nursing facility. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND
ENVIRONMENT Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use
hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, see, feel, talk, and
hear. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body
fluids, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic
chemicals. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum
of 25 pounds. In compliance with applicable law, reasonable
