Job DescriptionMEDICAL ASSISTANT, CERTIFIED - Duke Eye Center of

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA OR RMA) at the Duke Eye Center of
South Durham - 234 Crooked Creek Pkwy to assist Eye Center
physicians and other technical support colleagues in preparing
patients for intraocular injections. This position would offer

participation in educational opportunities.Schedule: Day shifts

ensuring accuracy in your work. JOB DUTIES:
- Assisting the medical and nursing staff during examination and
procedures.
- Disposing of contaminated supplies, instrument processing, high
level disinfection and sterilization of medical instruments
- Preparing patients for intraocular eye injections by instilling
eye drops and preparing medication for administration
- Assisting the physician with documentation and assuring the
patient and family members are instructed on post procedure care
and making appointments REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work requires an education background generally equivalent to a
high school education.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.

- Must have BLS Certification KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:
- Able to independently seek out resources and work
collaboratively
- Able to establish and maintain effective working
relationships
- Able to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors,
healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and
others
- Able to record activities, document assessments, plan of care,
interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status
- Able to use computer and learn new software programs
- Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking
- Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety
