Job DescriptionMEDICAL ASSISTANT, CERTIFIED - Neuroimmunology

Medical Assistant, Certified in our Neuroimmunology Division
located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare
team and provide direct and indirect care to patients. WE INVITE

JOB DUTIES:
- Functions as the focal communication source for infusion
coordination, dealing directly with both; patients and medical
staff
- Responsible for documentation into the EMR, as well as various
tasks pertaining to the coordination of Infusion Services for
various neurological disorder clinics with emphasis on multiple
sclerosis
- Communicates a dedication to serving all internal and external
customers to include, but not limited to, the medical staff,
physician office personnel, patients, and all hospital
personnel
- Review patient charts to ensure all pre-assessments are
complete prior to infusion initiation
- Assist patients with questions and/or concerns regarding
infusions and selection of infusion site locations
- After completion of start form by clinic staff, responsible for
contacting patient to discuss insurance coverage process,
appointment details, etc.
- Assist in obtaining insurance authorizations, benefits
investigations, and copay assistance enrollment for commonly
prescribed infusion medications.
- Communicate with manufacturer support programs to facilitate
infusion site selection and coordination
- Complete follow-up calls with patients to ensure infusions are
initiated
- Primary contact for coordination of infusion orders/paperwork
including requests from both internal and external infusion sites.
May include coordination of written or EMR order requests in
collaboration with the provider.
- Assist with coordination of infusion sites changes due to
insurance site of care policies or patient preference REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program accredited
by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education
Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education
Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
- High school or GED graduation required.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA
required.
- BLS required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written
instructions.
- Knowledge of daily clinic preparation process; registration,
scheduling, charge posting and order entry.
- Ability to document and communicate pertinent information and
establish and maintain effective working relationships with
patients and clinic staff. ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCertain jobs in
