Job Number: 44253 Lab Assistant Job Description: Our client, a
global nonprofit research organization, is seeking an R&D Lab
Assistant to join their team! The role of the position includes
laboratory-based research and development support across multiple
projects within the Exposure and Protection team. Responsibilities
include conducting laboratory experiments, weighing filters, data
collection and recording results into Microsoft Office software,
and working with mechanical and electrical systems involving
soldering, assembling, and disassembling mechanical/electrical
devices. This position will start on a 1-year contract with
potential for long-term hire based on performance. The hours are
full-time, Mon-Fri 8am-5pm with the flexibility to come in earlier
and leave a little earlier. Responsibilities: Weighing filters in a
clean room environment under specific standard protocols Soldering,
assembling, and disassembling mechanical/electrical devices Data
entry using a combination of Microsoft Office, web-based tools, and
other software packages Assist with research activities and other
tasks as necessary in a laboratory environment Assist with the
recording of observations and measurements and documenting results
Clean, disinfect, and maintain lab facilities, clean rooms and
equipment Assist with ordering and stocking of materials and
equipment Education Requirements: Minimum of a BS degree in
chemistry, environmental science, electrical engineering, physics,
or related science or engineering discipline. Desired
Background/Skills: Experience with analysis tools such as
multimeters, spectroscopy, microscopy, or other analytic equipment
used in electronic device testing or chemical analysis. Experience
using a microbalance. Proficiency using Microsoft Office,
especially Excel and using VBA editor. Knowledge of optical
spectroscopies such as UV Vis, Light Scattering or Radiometry.
Knowledge of more advanced electrical measurement methods such as
using an oscilloscope and troubleshooting electronics failure is a
bonus. Knowledge of programming languages such as LabView, Python,
or C is a bonus. Qualifications: Ability to multitask Ability to
work well with others Ability to listen and communicate well both
verbally and in writing Ability to work independently Attention to
detail and accuracy Aptitude for working with mechanical and
electrical systems along with experience in soldering, assembling
and disassembling mechanical/electrical devices. Experience in
laboratory experiments, data recording, and data collection in of
one or more areas of analysis, device testing, and analytical
instrumentation. Knowledge of basic electronic measurements such as
continuity, voltage, and current. Strong computer skills especially
with word processors and spreadsheet data analysis (graphing,
performing basic statistical analyses, etc.). Highly interactive
interpersonal skills for effective communication with project team
members and other personnel (including engineers, scientists,
technicians, clients, vendors, etc.). Ability to work equally well
independently and as part of a larger team. Strong analytical and
creative problem-solving skills. Ability to successfully implement
experimental test plans and follow standard operating procedures to
perform required measurements with high accuracy and precision.
Strong time management skills with ability to work on multiple
projects simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication
skills. 1 to 3 years of industrial, laboratory and/or research
experience is preferred U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Other
