Senior Bioinformatics Scientist - OncologyAbout QuantBioQuantBio is a research bioinformatics consulting group performing state-of-the-art analytics on high-dimensional data for biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as academic institutions. QuantBio's overall mission is to find the optimal patient population for oncology therapeutics through biomarker discovery using statistical analysis and machine learning.This OpportunityThe QuantBio bioinformatics team is seeking an independent-thinking experienced bioinformatician to participate in and help lead projects related to preclinical and clinical development for oncology therapeutics. QuantBio is seeking a candidate with extensive experience in analysis of high-dimensional data, cancer genomics, statistics and machine learning. This employee will work as a part of a team with other QuantBio Bioinformaticians, act as a group lead in specified projects, as well as interact directly with clients.Core Responsibilities

  • Perform bioinformatics analyses for large-scale research projects, such as detailed target characterization, biomarker discovery, or identifying the ideal patient population for a specified therapeutic
  • Project management, including creating research plan, executing on research aims, supervising other bioinformaticians, and creating reports and other deliverables
  • Develop methods for analyzing multi-omics data, building analysis pipelines, algorithms, and validating tools for oncology research
  • Collaborate with scientists to understand their research questions and propose solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, documented codeKey Qualifications & Preferred Skills
    • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science or other related fields and at least 3 years of post-graduate bioinformatics experience
    • Proficient in R or Python
    • Experience with processing and analysis of NGS data types, such as RNA-seq, WES, ChIP-seq, scRNA-seq
    • Experience with cancer genomics and immunology
    • Experience with large-scale publicly available data sets, such as TCGA, CCLE, etc.
    • Extensive knowledge of statistics
    • Experience with machine learning including both supervised and unsupervised learning
    • Experience working with analytics and visualizations of high-dimensional genomics datasets
    • Ability to work independently and develop a research plan
    • Ability to communicate bioinformatics concepts to non-bioinformaticians
    • Experience with workflow development
