Relocation Assistance! -- Occ Summary The Clinical Lead RN is a role developed to work in co ordination withthe nursing leadership in anassigned unit or department t o ensure the work is accomplishedeffectively. The Clinical Lead RNisthe first line support for staff, physicians and other relatedproviders on s ervice- specific clinicalissues. The Clinical Lead RN is generally a lon g-term role, requiringclinical and interpersonalskills. TheClinical Lead RNcollaborates with the manager on clinical andnon-clinical issues (employeerelations,individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.). The Clinical LeadRN is the support for theunit/department/service whenthe manager isunavailable.The ClinicalTeam Leader is responsibleforsupervisi ng, directing, coaching and mentoring their assigned coregroup of staff. Work Performed Duties and responsibilities include all those required o fthe CN IV aswell as: Plan and coordinate clinical requirements for staf fand ensure that allCBO and CBE requirementsforstaff are current. Plan a ndassist with coordination of unit staff schedules and submitfor manage r approval. Coordinate clinical requirements with staff regarding equipm ent andsupplies. Consult with preceptors and orientees on a regular basi s to providesupport and determine howorientation should proceed on an in dividualbasis. Collaborate with the manager for issue resolutions and pr ojects toimprove work flow processesthroughout the department utilizinga proactive approach. Collaborate with different departments (pharmacy,ra diology, lab,registration) to resolve issues andimprove work flow proces ses throughout the department. Collaborate with the nurse managers inthe interview process for newapplicants. Mentor/coach staff to enhance thei r professional development. Assesses the performance of assigned newhire s and orientees includingentry level nurses,nursingcare assistants and h ealth unit coordinators; provides ongoing feedbackand coaching. Understa nd and communicate potential clinical equipment or supplyissues to appro priate teammembers (Materials, Biomed, Sterile Processing,etc). Mentor a nd monitor the preceptors for all new employees. Provide clinical/educat ion updates and skill check-offs to entire staffon a regular basis.Provi des immediate support and education onpolicy, procedures,equipmentand s upplies. Responsible for learning, implementing and teaching newtechnolo gy/procedures. Demonstratesawareness of current problems and basic plan for allpatients within assigned area. Provides clinical consultation and guidance as needed to facilitatepatient care. Gives assistance and/or d irection to staff to facilitate qualitypatient flow. Assess staffing nee ds according to workload and staff competency; Re-assigns and adjustssta ffingbased upon patient care needs. Delegates responsibilities within th e scope of practice and validatedcompetencies in order to meettheworkloa d demands of the shift. Facilitates assignments that support learning fo r the orientee or nurselearner. input into decision-making,resolution of conflict, and collegiality among all health teammembers. Communicates i n an effective, professional manner. Facilitates staff performance audit s related to attitude, teamperformance, The Joint Commission,DFSStandard s and SCIP initiatives. Reviews and comments on forwarded SRSs related t o their team or shift. Facilitates and encourages staff participation in departmental andhospital committee and councilmeetings.Promotesan atmos phere of open communication that facilitates staff Attends departmental and hospital committee meetings as assigned. Coordinates, facilitates, p articipates and directs departmentalprojects with follow-throughandappro priate follow-up. Other projects and duties as directed by thedepartment managers. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge ofscope of the regi stered nurse, licensed practical nurse andnursing care assistant Knowled ge of and appropriate application of the nursing process Knowledge of pr ofessional theory, practice and procedure Ability to assess nursing need s ofacute and chronically ill patientsand their families Ableto indepen dently seek out resources and work collaboratively Ability toestablish a nd maintain effective working relationships Able tocommunicate clearly w ith patients, families, visitors,healthcareteam, physicians,administrato rs, leadership and others Able to teach patients and families in accorda nce with the nursing planof care Able to use sensory and cognitive funct ions to process and prioritizeinformation, treatment, andfollow-up Able to use fine motor skills Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requirementsdesignated by work area Able to record activities, d ocument assessments, plan of care,interventions, evaluationand re-evalua tion of patient status Able to use computer and learn new software progr ams Able to navigate the entity to provide clinical care for patients Ab le to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability tomove o r lift at least fifty pounds Able to remain focused and organized Workin gknowledge of procedures and techniques involved inadministeringroutine and specialtreatments to patients Level Characteristics N/A Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing required. Experience Three years of experience in nursing practice. Selected candidates must meet the Clinical Ladder requirements for CN III within one year of appointment. Degrees, Licensures, Certifications Must have current or compact RN license in the State of North Carolina.
