Relocation Assistance! --Duke University Hospital Center for Advance Practice ---Pediatric Urology--Nurse Clinician - Full-Time, Days--Position Summary:--The Duke Hospital Pediatric Urology--Nurse Clinician collaborates with members of the healthcare team to enhance patient care by providing evidence-based clinical expertise to patients with complex urologic problems. S/he makes clinical judgements based upon a synthesis of current research, concepts, principles, theories, and outcomes to solve complex problems. The Nurse Clinician is a dynamic and positive role model for nursing staff.-- S/he functions as an integral part of a larger interdisciplinary team contributing to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and in providing leadership to the Children's Health Center nursing staff and to the organization.--Hours:--Primary hours will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, however must be flexible to meet the clinical and educational needs of staff, including occasional off-shifts and weekends.--Position Requirements:Education:---------- Work requires completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.Licensure: ------------Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Certification:-- Certification:-- not required Experience:------ Three years of nursing experienceLife Support:---- BLS--Specific Job Responsibilities and Standards:1. Direct CareProvide specialized nursing care and education to patients with complex urologic problems to maximize clinical outcomes for the patient and family.-- Demonstrate competence and have documented evidence of competencies related to the following urotherapy procedures:-Flow Rate-Pelvic floor EMG-PVR-Complex CMG-Voiding Pressure Monitoring-Abdominal Pressure Monitoring-Anal / Sphincter EMG Monitoring-Fluoroscopy-Biofeedback ProcedureMaintain and calibrate urodynamic equipment on a regular basisAssist pediatric urology providers in preparing patients for urotherapy procedures and subsequent medical and surgical management.Coordinate clinical practice and/or clinical program services to maximize patient outcomes and to accomplish the strategic objectives of the healthcare team, the CHC, and of the organization.Collaborate with members of the healthcare team (patients, nurses, physicians, dietitians, pharmacists, Patient Resource Managers, social workers, etc.) in determining necessary follow-up and plan of care for patients with complex urologic problems.Serve as a resource and professional role model to nursing staff and leadership.Collaborate with clerical staff to ensure patient pre-certification, scheduling, and follow-up.--2. CoachingDevelop evidence-based teaching materials for urotherapy studies and procedures.Educate patients and families about bladder studies and management, including post-procedure care, bladder catheterization, post-operative management after bladder reconstruction, bowel management, and follow-up.Teach, support, and coach nursing staff and healthcare learners to promote evidence-based clinical practice, knowledge, and skills related to pediatric urology and care of the pediatric patient undergoing urologic studies. Support nursing staff retention through on-going and clinically/professionally relevant formal and informal teaching opportunities.Participate, and as appropriate provide leadership, in the development of patient education standards and protocols.--3. CollaborationAssists staff in the development of innovative, cost effective programs or protocols of careAssesses the quality and effectiveness of interdisciplinary, intra- agency, and inter-agency communication and collaboration. Establishes collaborative relationships within and across departments that promote patient safety, culturally competent care, and clinical excellenceFacilitates intra-agency and inter-agency communication.Practices collegially with medical staff and other members of the healthcare team so that all providers' unique contributions to health outcomes will be enhanced. Collaborate and network with urologic experts from other institutions to insure standards of care and to promote excellence in the field.--4.
