To learn more, visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4Mq59-No-k--General DescriptionThe Duke Health Specialty Engagement Center is a centralized triage hub, designed to support Ambulatory Services across Duke Health. Triage RNs utilize telephonic interaction to facilitate callers' access to the appropriate level of care by assessing needs, offering a clinical option, referral to healthcare providers, services, and community resources. Triage RNs promote wellness and informed decisions by providing health information, home care advice, and prevent concepts.--The Nurse Manager is responsible for the effective organization and supervision of assigned employees and resources within the Duke Health Specialty Engagement Center. He/she will ensure an optimum environment for the efficient and orderly performance of Duke Health Specialty Engagement Center activities. He/she must also be able to perform Triange RN responsibilities and the technical duties, as needed.Job Duties1. Lead and participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of departmental policies, procedures, protocols, and strategic/operational plans.2. Actively support and promote a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards and protocols that are collaborative, collegial, utilize current trends and data in professional practice (clinical and administrative).--3. Coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures designed to improve operational efficiency. Coordinate QC/PI activities with appropriate staff.4. Assist in the formulation of performance standards, hold staff accountable for performance based on identified measures, and monitor compliance to ensure quality services that improve customer service and satisfaction.5. Maintain clinical competencies for assigned clinical areas. Assess/coach and evaluate staff level of practice. Develop programs that foster continued clinical development to positively impact patient care and career satisfaction for staff.6. Oversee various personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other related activities.7. Collaborate with departmental and entity leadership to determine fiscal requirements of the Duke Health Specialty Engagement Center, and prepare budgetary recommendations. Monitor the level of resources utilized in service delivery and determine the appropriateness of resource consumption in the service.8. Openly support and consistently communicate the mission of the hub and the organization. Serve as the collective voice for unit staff to communicate with administration. Serve as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care.9. Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and competence; keep abreast of current health care and business developments, and practices that may impact the hub.10. Ensures the workforce is diverse and cognizant of the value diversity brings to the workplace. Assure coordination/participation of staff on center and organization wide committees/work groups.11. Master's degree in nursing strongly preferred.--Experience Requirements/PreferencesThree years of experience in nursing is required.--Licensure/Certification RequirementsMust have current, non-restricted compact RN license. Licensure in the state of North Carolina will be required within 90 days if a compact state RN license. AHA BLS required.--Financial ResponsibilitiesDevelop Budget RecommendationsPrepare budget requests & written narrativesReview expenses against budget---------------- ------------------ -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- ----Supervisory Responsibilites1.--Ambulatory Care Nurse II or III, Specialty Engagement Center, RN TriageTBD------Minimum Qualifications----EducationBachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.--Experience--Three years of nursing experience is required.--Degrees, Licensures, Certifications--Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BCLS certification required. Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a leadership certification within three months of hire.
