Job Description:
Provides leadership and technology oversight on projects to
onboard and develop critical next generation brokerage applications
on distributed databases -- setting up and migrating databases on
external Cloud infrastructure. Installs, supports, maintains, and
monitors Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase databases, and
responds to alerts. Provides database support in all phases of the
Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Draws on in-depth knowledge
of the business or function to provide business-unit wide
solutions. Evaluates and recommends new software products in
support of the strategic direction of the business unit and
participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate
models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve
business-unit-wide solutions. Primary Responsibilities: Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to
application strategy recommendations at the functional level. Provides production monitoring and support. Designs databases, manages application releases, keeps an open
dialogue with application teams, and manages and plans database
infrastructure projects. Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or
company architectural components. Plans and leads organization wide- initiatives. Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to
multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex
organization-wide projects. Performs application database administration functions and
responds to alerts -- tuning, database application design, physical
data modeling, and providing developer support. Builds new enterprise reporting and analytical platforms. Participates in on call support for production, database
maintenance, housekeeping, and installations. Performs project management functions across multiple projects
using database administration resources across onshore and offshore
teams. Sets up and supports disaster recovery strategies and routine
testing. Collaborates with development teams in database design
processes. Supports ETL development and troubleshooting. Deploys database ETL and configuration changes through
environments, and supports ETL development troubleshooting. Onboard new applications and clients. Establishes database standards for operations, upgrades, and
migrations. Diagnoses problem areas and provides solutions and workarounds
based on application data needs. Establishes and maintains standards and procedures by writing
clear, concise, and well organized technical documentation. Defines, maintains, and manages the team's overall technical
strategy and integrated product roadmap. Directs Programmers and Analysts to modify existing databases
and database management systems. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer
Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems,
Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and six (6) years
of experience in the job offered or six (6) years of experience
managing data warehousing and analytical database systems in the
financial services industry, using Oracle Exadata and Big Data
technologies. Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely
related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered
or four (4) years of experience managing data warehousing and
analytical database systems in the financial services industry,
using Oracle Exadata and Big Data technologies. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) building complex, client-facing data
warehousing, reporting, analytical, and DataLake database
platforms, using engineered systems (Oracle Exadata and IBM
Netezza) and Cloud services (Snowflake). DE leading and executing Oracle database migration and support
projects on external Cloud provider offerings -- Oracle on AWS EC2,
Oracle AWS RDS, and Oracle OCI. DE architecting highly available and resilient active-active
database solutions for financial trading applications on Oracle
databases, using Oracle Goldengate and Oracle Dataguard. DE creating and communicating database architecture
recommendations -- designing relational physical database data
models, performing performance, capacity optimization, and
information analysis, and performing feasibility studies, data
collection, stress testing, and platform certification, using
Oracle Enterprise Manager, Real Application Testing (RAT), Oracle
