Job Description:
Performs application database administration (DBA) functions
including, SQL tuning, database application design, physical data
modeling, and developer support. Monitors Sybase, Oracle, SQL
Server, and Netezza databases and responds to any alerts.
Establishes database standards for operations, upgrades,
migrations, and onboarding new applications. Primary Responsibilities: Documents design, operational procedures, and standards for
highly complex/business critical databases. Tests and implements new design features for general use. Defines and evaluates database maintenance tools and build
processes. Establishes performance tuning criteria and methods in
coordination with internal and external technical resources. Provides technology strategic roadmap for technology lifecycle
management. Designs, evaluates, and executes highly complex database
performance and functionality testing. Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex
projects. Provides technical evaluation estimates on technology
initiatives. Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and techniques in
order to minimize future incident occurrence. Defines requirements and operational procedures to ensure
network integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to
the network and applications. Develops business cases to justify information security
architecture initiatives. Enforces storage management standards. Defines the scope of change and impact to other interfaces. Develops high level architecture design for the enterprise. Mentors junior team members. Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer
Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems,
Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years
of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience
performing Oracle and Microsoft SQL server database administration
in a mission critical database production support environment. Or, alternatively, a Masters degree (or foreign education
equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information
Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely
related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered
or three (3) years of experience performing Oracle and Microsoft
SQL server database administration in a mission critical database
production support environment. Skills and Knowledge: Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing Oracle RAC database
administration across AIX, Solaris, Linux, and Exadata servers. DE developing, installing, and managing Oracle replication
technologies -- Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data guard; and
performing automatic storage management/replication using Oracle
ASM. DE in performance tuning using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid
control (OEM 12c) and Unix shell scripting; and writing database
monitoring jobs in PL/SQL. DE performing Microsoft SQL server database mirroring; and
logging shipping technologies to create replicated, parallel
