Executive Director of Cardiovascular Services coordinates and
integrates services throughout the organization, ensuring qualified
competent staffing, providing direction for cost effective, quality
care, and developing and administering budget in all cardiovascular
areas. Description of Job Responsibilities: 1. Help define and
validate the vison for the heart and vascular service line. Work to
achieve a significant growth in heart and vascular volumes
specifically and Nash volumes generally. 2. Directs the development
and administration of the budgets in all cardiovascular areas, as
mentioned above. Recommends types and amounts of resources
required. Allocates resources based on departmental and
organizational goals and objectives. Develops Master Staffing Plans
for all areas. Reviews financial and operational data evaluating
quality of service, workload, revenue and expenses. Takes
corrective action as appropriate. Monitors salary and non-salary
budgets for all assigned areas. 3. Provides direction for the
delivery of cost effective, quality patient care based on
established regulatory, professional and organizational standards
within the context of the operating vision. 4. Knowledgeable about
current practices and standards in Critical/Intermediate Care.
Utilizes knowledge to lead performance improvement activities.
Leads efforts to improve operations and outcomes in
critical/intermediate care. 5. Establishes and/or provides
leadership for the attainment of departmental/service line goals in
support of the organizational mission. Coordinates and integrates
services throughout the organization. 6. Ensures qualified
competent staffing, space, equipment and other resources are
available to meet the scope of services available. Organizes
Critical/Intermediate Care through the selection and development of
managers, orderly organizational design and monitoring of outcomes.
7. Establishes collegial working relationship with physicians and
surgeons. 8. Directs the development of the Cardiac Observation
Unit and coordinates the activities that focus on the delivery and
evaluation process of patients with chest pain. 9. Adheres to the
American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. Participates in
performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
Recognizes, supports and utilizes evidenced based nursing practices
and evidenced based management practices. Represents UNC Health
Nash with active participation in professional and community
organizations. Participates/supports nursing shared governance
activities. Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in nursing
required; Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: Must have NC RN licensure.
Nursing specialty certification by exam or portfolio. Professional
Experience Requirements: Requires four (4) years of related
experience and/or training. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Requirements: * Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and
interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or
members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and
articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and
format. Ability to effectively present information to top
management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. *
Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts
such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of
plane. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations. * Reasoning
Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts,
and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive
variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
