Job Description:Director of Software Engineering The RoleFidelity Labs is looking for a Director of Software Engineering (DSE) to join the Data In platform team. This group's focus is building large scale, cloud deployed enterprise data platforms that help our customers make more informed decisions about their finances. This role will work across the Fidelity enterprise to analyze new business requirements, design technical solutions, and communicate engineering concerns to key business stakeholders. Strong communication skills and an ability to explain complex technical topics in a relevant way are a must. This role will also work to continuously mature and evolve the existing data platform by recommending new technologies, approaches and architectures that will help drive better business and engineering outcomes. This is a hands-on role.We expect the DSE to be a trusted partner with a passion for technology and demonstrated software engineering, system analysis and stakeholder support capabilities. The candidate must be an effective hands-on developer, leader, and solid communicator in working with our engineering, product, stakeholder teams. The candidate should also possess strong mentorship and technical leadership skills, with a healthy curiosity and a strong bias for taking incremental, practical actions towards growing and maturing both staff resources as well as the tools, techniques and technologies employed.The DSE will play a senior technical contributor role. We are looking for a very strong, hands-on contributor with the willingness to learn and grow as our team takes on more. Experience with data platforms and data aggregation generally is highly desired.The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Minimum of 8-10+ years' experience in brining software solutions to market/production, while directly contributing, deploying and delivering software to production
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in developing software in a 4GL language
  • Proficiency with Jira, GIT/Bitbucket, Confluence and can adapt to new tools/solutions that benefit the team.
  • Proficiency in working in an Agile, Kanban or Scrum based team environment and delivery model.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Java, containerized micro-services, and IOC technologies such as Spring.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate across internal and external business, marketing, and engineering departments.
  • Strong organizational, analytical skills and the ability to work at a highly detailed level
  • Ability to lead & mentor others with varying levels of skill and expertise
  • Hands-on experience developing systems that use modern distributed Software Architecture Patterns (e.g. Cloud/Containerization, Streaming, Microservices, Orchestration, etc.)
  • Experience in large scale relational database technologies, including multi-regional distributed clusters.
  • Ability to dig into business requirements and identify fit/gap and identifying creative solutions to incrementally support new requirements.
  • Experience building standards-based APIs, using REST, gRPC or alike in Java, .NET or similar language. The primary language of the team is Java/Python.
  • Experience in data manipulation, publication, and movement
  • Experience developing cloud solutions and creatively solving problems.
