We are seeking a Vice President of Corporate Development with a strong track record of helping organizations achieve their growth objectives through strategic partnerships, acquisitions, joint ventures and other arrangements. The Vice President of Corporate Development - -is responsible for leading a small but focused team that will help to support growth initiatives in each of our research groups, but also to source and lead new opportunities for growth at the Institute level. -This position will be responsible for identifying, sourcing and managing strategic opportunities through deal completion. This person will need to collaborate with the Office of Corporate Strategy, the Research Group EVP's and key corporate leaders necessary to affect such transactions.
This position reports to the Chief Financial, Strategy and Transformation Officer.
Strategy -

  • Develop strategic business plans and roadmaps for inorganic growth by linking Corporate Strategy objectives, Research Group growth plans and Strategic investment plans
  • Collaborate with business unit executives to develop and execute strategic business plans and roadmaps
  • Coordinate new market development, including new verticals and geographic expansion with the appropriate stakeholders
  • Lead the development of strategic partnerships at the Institute level that benefit the entire Institute vs. one research group

    Mergers, Acquisitions -and other Transactions

    • Provides leadership for all transactions from sourcing to deal closure
    • Responsible for the refinement of our current mergers and acquisitions process and ensure we have a best-in-class process that is well understood across the Institute
    • Drives day-to-day execution of M&A including sourcing, deal structure, due diligence, financial analysis, risk assessment and integration strategy
    • Proven ability to assemble cross functional teams and lead them through complex transactions to successful completion
    • Development and ownership of the financial models for deal evaluation and pricing and ROI/IRR
    • Develops and leads an integration process and then partners with research groups to ensure successful integration completion
    • Preparation and presentation of investment and acquisition cases for review and approval by Executive Leadership Team and Board of Governors - -

      Private Equity Portfolio

      • Lead executive responsible for managing our portfolio of private equity investments
      • Source and evaluate potential investments that meet the existing portfolio criteria
      • Manage the investment process in conjunction with legal from evaluation to closure

        Minimum Qualifications:

        • Bachelor's Degree and 20 years of experience, Master's degree and 16 years of experience, PhD and 12 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
        • Minimum of at least 5 years in a leadership position in corporate development and/or M&A.
        • Bachelor's Degree in economics, finance, business management or related discipline.
        • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

          Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

          • Knowledge of and experience with government contracting.
          • Experience in commercial health markets, either in life sciences or with health providers or payors.
          • Experience working in organizations with a small nimble corporate center and a decentralized operations business model
          • Proven success interacting with executive level management to determine solutions, resolve issues, and present recommendations at a senior level.
          • Experience managing multiple complex initiatives and experience with complete M&A cycle.
          • Well organized, with strong project management skills enabling successful delivery to deadlines
          • Ability to motivate and inspire large and diverse teams, manage multiple projects on a real-time basis, and identify and resolve operational and integration challenges.
          • Display a high level of initiative, demonstrate a willingness to experiment, invite and explore potential new ideas while understanding the risks to the organization.
          • Possess a mission orientation and ability to focus on doing what's right for the business.
          • Ability to govern with unquestionable ethics and unswerving integrity

              The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below. Our pay ranges represent national averages and may vary by location as a geographic differential may be applied to some locations within the United States.
