Status: Not Required Collins Aerospace in Wilson, NC is seeking a
highly experienced manufacturing project engineer to join our
dynamic team for producing complex fire suppression systems. This
position is for a skilled senior level engineer with deep knowledge
and technical expertise in manufacturing, assembly of metal
components, pressure systems, electro-mechanical assemblies and
material handling. This professional will lead projects for
automating processes in addition to updating current production
technology and should be familiar with processes such as machining,
welding, brazing, etch or laser marking, chemical treatment, and
metal coatings. This role must excel at critical thinking, project
management, as well as leading cross-functional teams in close
collaboration with design engineers, manufacturing engineers,
operations, and quality team members to solve complex issues and
implement projects while working under limited direction. What You
Will Do: Investigate, procure and launch new equipment with
technological advances in support of manufacturing processes.
Design, develop, and implement for manufacturing the required
equipment, fixtures, tooling, gaging, processes, or specifications
for production. Such design and development may include new or
revised processes. Identify and execute projects for process and
product improvements in alignment with key process indicators
(KPI’s) such as yield, cost and scrap. Lead and implement projects
for continuous improvement initiatives of manufacturing equipment
and processes in work cells utilizing lean principles such as: 5S
Workplace Organization, Error Proofing, Total Productive
Maintenance, Kanban/Pull Systems, Set-Up Reduction (SMED), Standard
Work, Value Stream Mapping, and Visual Factory. Review
manufacturability of existing and future products for integrating
into current production lines and or creating new production lines.
Assist in troubleshooting and problem solving with processes or
equipment already in operation. Follow compliance and lead change
management for new manufacturing equipment or process that may
include assembly, fabrication, painting, marking, machining and
welding. Lead actions involving new capital equipment projects,
such as writing capital funding requests, Statement of Work &
Validation requirements. Reviews and validates recommendations
regarding manufacturability of existing and future products and
advises modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer,
product, concerns or productivity constraints. Works with EH&S
to identify and resolve ergonomic and other safety concerns
specific to equipment and tools. Assist PFMEA team reviews and
updates for products. Lead or mentor entry-level engineers,
technicians, and operation team members. What You Will Learn:

team members from the design phase, purchase, installation, through
the release to production of new tooling and equipment.
Qualifications You Must Have: Solid Works or other CAD proficiency
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Launch of new
manufacturing line or line re-layout projects New equipment
installation experience Typically requires a degree in Science,
Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years
prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
Qualifications We Prefer: Demonstrated use of lean principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD or SolidWorks
systems, Lab View GD&T Drawing techniques Working knowledge of
electromechanical assemblies and robotics Experience of Military /
Aerospace procedures, specifications, regulations, AS9100 Process
automation Pressure systems and vessels Familiarity with SAP,

salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary
range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all
