Job Description: U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting senior engineers with various projects in a heavy manufacturing environment. Interns will be tasked with project management projects in which they will conceptualize, design, draw, converse with vendors for pricing and manage implementation of designs. Some projects will include data collection and monitoring to improve productivity to existing machines; infrastructure investigation and drawing updates for gas piping, industrial water piping, city water piping and fire system. May also include plan for marking of lines and valves and educating plant personnel on facilities infrastructure. This internship can lead to a full-time at will employment opportunity as US Pipe. Essential Functions: Smaller project management projects, where interns will conceptualize, design, draw, converse with vendors for pricing and manage implementation of designs. Safety related improvements based on the daily observations program. Productivity improvements to existing machines, largely where data collection and machine monitoring may be required Infrastructure investigation and drawing updates for gas piping, industrial water piping, city water piping and fire system. May also include plan for marking of lines and valves and educating plant personnel on facilities infrastructure. Compressed air leak audits. Technical document storage and retrieval improvements Assisting senior engineers. All other duties as assigned. Skills & Other Requirements: Mechanical Engineering Intern must be an active student, in their Junior or Senior year in a 4-year accredited college and enrolled in an Mechanical Engineer or related degree program. High level of integrity, strong work ethic, ability to work independently and good judgement. Working knowledge of Auto CAD required. Interested in manufacturing. Why Join Our Team?
