Principal Engineer in the NetApp's Cloud Storage organization, you
will be responsible for leading and executing our most challenging
and complex projects. You will be responsible for decomposing
complex problems into simple solutions, understanding system
interdependencies and limitations, and possessing expert knowledge
in Data Storage, disaster recovery (Ex: ONTAP), cloud
architectures, performance, scalability, enterprise system
architecture, engineering best practices, and testing methods. In
addition to your technical expertise, you will also be responsible
for partnering with technical and product leaders of all major
cloud providers, writing/reviewing code, mentoring and developing
others, influencing multiple NetApp teams, and making key technical
decisions. You will be a key player in helping NetApp stay ahead of
the curve and deliver innovative solutions to our customers. You
are expected to have a strong technical point of view and work with
our internal and external partners and earn their trust with
empathy. Your ability to communicate clearly with the top leaders
of multiple high-profile companies and ability to use data to
defend your decisions will be crucial for this role. Key
Responsibilities Lead design, architecture, implementation, and
delivery of complex software engineering projects in the cloud
storage Serve as a technical leader on demanding, cross-functional
engineering projects Functionally decompose complex problems into
simple, straightforward solutions and fully understand system
interdependencies and limitation Understand NetApp's existing
systems, their interdependencies, and limitations Possess expert
knowledge in Storage and disaster recovery (Ex: ONTAP), modern
cloud architectures, microservices architecture, Kubernetes,
Golang/C# or another major object-oriented programming language,
performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and
engineering best practices. Influence multiple internal teams and
external partners without authority and with strong empathy. (This
is an IC role) Assist in the career development of others, actively
coach and mentor other senior engineers on advanced technical
issues Contribute to building intellectual property through
patents. Architect and build modern CD/CI infrastructure which
works all the time for several hundred developers working on
multitude of interconnected software deployment pipelines Architect
and design modern, cloud native QA framework and components. Job
Requirements 15 years of experience in software/systems
engineering. 5 years of experience in data management systems &
storage platforms for managing and storing data across various
workloads and environments. (Ex: NetApp's ONTAP or similar
systems). 5 years of expert level hands-on experience in highly
scalable cloud architectures including service-oriented
architectures, cloud-native (FAAS, PAAS), and cloud storage
services (NOSQL and relational DB etc.). Excellent experience
building fault tolerant and high scale distributed architecture on
one of the major cloud providers. Proactive and self-driven, with
strong technical judgment and influential skills. Ability to
influence Directors, VPs and SVP as a key technical adviser.
Expertise to provide both architectural guidance and detailed
technical direction. Excellent communication and writing skills,
with the ability to effectively engage with customers,
stakeholders, and the engineering community. Education Bachelor of
Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; or
equivalent experience. Masters preferred. Compensation The base
salary range for this position is [$225,500]-[$317,00] and will be
determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience,
and education. Final compensation packages are competitive and in
line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and
include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health
Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time
Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives,
employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's),
with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by
