Position Summary:
Automation Engineer provides technical support in order to assure
all different automation processes in plant. Coordinates the
necessary operations for current technology and helps to develop
new solutions for new products. Ability to interact with large
cross section of companies Employee base ranging from hourly line
worker, team lead, shift supervisor, Quality Department, Tool Room,
Maintenance Team. Trouble shoot and resolve product issues and
incorporate Continuous Improvement Projects. Is technically
competent and is capable of handling all projects within his
discipline.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of employees by maintaining knowledge of
industrial safety issues and complying with all applicable safety,
regulatory, and hygiene standards.
Train personnel to perform tasks.
Work closely with other functional areas and work centers,
including Security, Quality, Packaging, Production Planning, Tool
Room, Maintenance to coordinate an efficient production
workflow.
Schedule and assign personnel to perform tasks
Work to enhance overall effectiveness and productivity through the
application of Lean Enterprise principles and tools including
Practical Process Improvement (PPI), standard work, visual
management, and daily accountability.
Work with new product commercialization teams to successfully
introduce new products.
Create, update and maintain departmental metrics.
Responsible for meeting the commitment dates of the new
installations in plant.
Responsible for disconnection and connection of new equipment, as
well as its transfer.
Development of suppliers and contractors within his discipline.
Analyze and correct problems in critical areas of the plant.
Responsible for innovation and improvement projects in the plant
based on automated processes.
Develops investment requests for the approval of new projects.
Responsible for the training and development of the technical team
on all automation and control activities such as PLCs.
In charge of managing backups for all machines programs and
document all updates or changes performed.
Develops programs and/or integrations on productive equipment for
the OEE improvement.
Coordinate IQ, OQ and PQ qualifications for Automated cells
document results with detailed technical reports.
Troubleshoot production issues and keep production running to
support customer requirements until corrective actions can be
implemented
Ability to problem solve and implement corrective actions for
Clients both internal and external
Represent automation engineering on new product development teams
insuring new products that are brought to market are capable of
being manufactured to accepted specifications.
Support NPD for the following:
o Automation FMEA
o Design FMEA
Support daily Gemba meeting
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Automation or Mechatronics Engineering
5+ years with automation and control systems
4.0 industry knowledge a plus.
Computer Skills: must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Outlook.
PLC Skills: must be familiar with leader diagram and different
industrial automation software such as Rockwell/Allen Bradley.
A working knowledge of SAP a plus.
Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards,
Lean manufacturing concepts and familiarization of FDA regulations
desired.
Willing to travel domestically and internationally approximately
10%
