MetLife is seeking an Agile Release train engineer who is experienced in dealing with complex cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects with the ability to drive both effective and efficient outcomes. It is expected that the associate, while working independently, will drive these projects from original concept through final implementation and will be able to communicate with stakeholders and leaders the status of specific projects. This role will also be a key resource in driving the transformation of our program from a Waterfall to an Agile model.

The role also involves executive reporting, portfolio management, team engagement and support of Benefits Realization Practices for the organization. Candidates must possess strong IT and Project/Program Management skills; PMP and/or PgMP and/or CSM/SAFe certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works independently and manages medium to large scale projects and initiatives delivering in an Agile or Waterfall methodology including but not limited to reporting, governance, financial management, risk management, execution, schedule management and stakeholder management
  • Identifies resources needed, assembles project team, assigns individual responsibilities
  • Drives operational excellence through the understanding and alignment of key customer goals and business priorities.
    • Responsible for project management execution including but not limited to estimating and managing projects' costs and resources
    • Identifying and managing projects' risks and issues
    • Monitoring progress of all key project work streams, deliverables and outcomes
    • Creation and maintenance of detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
    • Lead up to 2-3 onshore and/or offshore scrum teams in moderate complexity workstreams
    • Facilitate daily standups, iteration reviews and iteration planning ceremonies to ensure full team engagement.
    • Collaborate with the Product Owner to support short and long-term release planning, while maintaining a healthy team backlog ready for execution.
    • Designs, implements, and monitors the progress of initiatives, milestones, and budgets to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
    • Leads and motivates direct and non-direct report project team members across various functional areas.
    • Leads project meetings and provides updates to leadership regarding project status and the application and implementation of technology.

      Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
      • Detailed knowledge and/or experience with infrastructure technologies and Software Development Life Cycle for medium to large initiatives (i.e.: Waterfall, Iterative, Agile, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
      • Proficient with office automation tools (MS Office suite of applications, email, Teams, etc.)
      • Experience working with Project Portfolio Management and Planning tools (Clarity / Target Process)
      • Experienced managing matrixed teams, internal as well as global offshore teams and/or 3rd party vendors
      • Managing stakeholder expectations through excellent communication inclusive of written, verbal and listening.
      • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-resolution skills as well as risk management at the team and program level
      • Strong executive presentation and entrepreneurial skills. Employs judgement, relationship management, customer orientation, learning agility, emotional intelligence, business acumen
        Required:
        • PMP (or other PMI Certifications) and/or CSM/SAFe Agile certifications
        • 10+ years IT relevant experience, especially for imaging and workflow project/programs
        • 4-6+ years in a project or program management role
        • Deep knowledge Program/Project Financial Management/Budgeting Preferred:
          • Experience working in Financial Services, Insurance and/or Banking experience
          • Knowledge of Java, databases and, Imaging and workflow tools
          • Continuous Learning mindset; Servant Leader
          • Experience using data and metrics to communicate team performance, especially for Agile projects
          • Commitment to relentless improvement
          • Working knowledge of Clarity, Jira, Azure DevOps
          • Bachelor's: Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or Information Systems
          • Proficient with Traditional SDLC and Agile project management methodologies Travel

            The wage range for applicants for this position is the more specific figure (for example (only): $80,000) or range within which the hiring manager reasonably expects to hire (for example (only): $70,000 - $85,000) . The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the sales incentive plan for your position.
