Job Description:

Duties: Serve as a member of the Database Administration Team, which

provides database administration services for core databases on Oracle, MS

SQL Server, and Sybase technologies. Will support database administration

tasks and partner closely with IT Production Operations team and TSO

Infrastructure organizations to provide database designs and procedures for

efficient application availability, product stability, and business

continuity.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide technical database design support.

• Design operational and transactional database solutions that meet

the functional and nonfunctional business requirements.

• Implement database replication using Active standby and Golden

Gate.

• Perform production on-call support for critical production

environments.

• Design infrastructural database models including high availability,

failover/switch, and replication for mission critical applications.

• Perform database administration functions including database

performance tuning, database monitoring, database storage designs, database

network layer designs, and database backup/restores modeling.

• Perform database installations, migrations, upgrades, and cloning;

and apply security and enhancements patches.

• Work with developers, engineers and other database teams in the

database design process, and capacity planning process, and make

recommendations based on the application data usage requirements.

• Design and perform business continuity operations such as database

recovery, database switching and activating secondary databases.

• Analyze complex database problems and implement solutions and/or

workarounds.

• Evaluate and recommend new software tools and products in database

administration area.

• Conduct performance tuning, problem research/resolution, code

reviews and deployments, Oracle SQL support, and data corrections/movement.

• Open and follow-up on service support tickets with Oracle support.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in

Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems,

Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of

experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience in database

administration; or, alternatively, a Master’s degree (or foreign education

equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology,

Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and

one (1) year of experience in the job offered or one (1) year of experience

in database administration. Candidate must also possess: Demonstrated

Expertise (“DE”) in database administration of applications using Oracle

Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, backup using RMAN, replication

methods (including Materialized Views or Golden Gate) and Perl/Unix shell

scripting; DE in database troubleshooting, performance/health monitoring

using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) grid functionality, and plan

management; and executing performance tuning of queries and databases; DE

in Oracle, Sybase and MS SQL administration, including installation,

upgrades, patching, and cloning; DE in Oracle, SQL and MS SQL data

migrations.
